Job Posting Title: Transportation Supervisor
Time Type: Full Time
Key Responsibilities:Operational Oversight:Plan, schedule, and dispatch daily transportation routes, considering factors such as delivery timelines, vehicle capacity, and driver availability.Monitor real-time delivery progress using GPS and transportation management systems (TMS).Address and resolve operational issues, including delays, breakdowns, and delivery exceptions, in a timely manner.Ensure all transportation activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., DOT, FMCSA).Team Leadership:Supervise, coach, and mentor a team of drivers and transportation staff.Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.Lead daily stand-up meetings (in-person or virtual) to communicate priorities and address concerns.Foster a positive and collaborative team environment focused on safety and efficiency.Hybrid Work Management:Manage tasks and team communication effectively from both the office and a remote location.Utilize virtual communication tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Slack, Zoom) for remote collaboration and meetings.Ensure seamless transition between in-office and remote work days without impacting operational continuity.Administrative & Reporting:Maintain accurate records of driver hours, vehicle maintenance, fuel consumption, and delivery metrics.Prepare and analyze reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery rates, cost per mile, and route efficiency.Assist in budget planning and cost control initiatives for the transportation department.Safety and Compliance:Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all drivers adhere to company safety policies and procedures.Coordinate regular vehicle inspections and maintenance schedules to ensure fleet reliability and compliance.Investigate and report on any accidents or incidents, implementing corrective actions as needed.Customer and Stakeholder Relations:Communicate with customers to provide updates on deliveries and resolve any service-related issues.Collaborate with other departments (e.g., warehouse, sales, customer service) to optimize logistics processes.Qualifications:3 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or a related field.3 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role.Proven experience with a Transportation Management System (TMS) and GPS tracking software.Strong knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.Highly organized with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a hybrid work environment.Working Conditions:This is a hybrid position with a set schedule for in-office and remote work.The role may require occasional on-call availability to address urgent operational issues.
