Technical Operations Manager/Deputy General Manager (Relocation Available)

Q-Lab Corporation is currently seeking a Technical Operations Manager/Deputy General Manager in Homestead, FL. Reporting to the Test Services Managing Director, this position will be responsible for the operational oversight of the Florida Outdoor Testing Facilities. This position engages with and assist the Sales, Check-In, Evaluations and Quality Supervisors/Managers to ensure that testing maintains Q-Lab’s Goals and Objectives. This may include root cause analysis of errors, initiating improvements, providing direct assistance in services, pricing and ensuring procedures are accurate. Furthermore, this position will directly manage and oversee all Special Projects testing at the Florida facility, and provide remote assistance to the other locations, as needed. In the absence of the Managing Director, this position serves at a Deputy Managing Director role.

This position will be fully onsite in Homestead, FL, but we will offer relocation assistance.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee Special Projects, from customer consultation through testing
• Maintain the Florida Weather System
• Calibrate outdoor equipment as needed
• Develop technical reports through sporadic research opportunities (i.e. compiling a years long study comparing degradation rates from natural weathering to accelerated weathering)
• Ensure operational procedures and work-flow procedures are current, complete, and accurate
• Act as a technical resource for all Test Services staff
• Work through non-conformances to determine root causes and suggest long-term corrective actions
• Hurricane Field Clearance Team Leader
• Lead technical reviews of requests involving new work
• Handle all order/delivery/quality customer service questions and communications in conjunction with customer service and production teams including pricing, providing customer photos, and site tours
  
  

Required Skills And Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a Hard Science (Physics, Biology, Chemistry) required
• Mechanical and technical lab experience required
• Extensive Excel formula experience and skill
• Skilled in supporting a diverse technical team with demonstrated success
• Prior supervisory experience in a testing environment
• In-house and external calibration experience
• Expert computer skills
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs and work outdoors for extensive periods of time

• Proficient in developing macros within Microsoft Office
• Experience in data logging
• ISO 17025 Accreditation experience
