Description
In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting our clients by managing and resolving inquiries from federal and state agencies related to corporate and tax filings. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include reviewing correspondence, conducting research, and ensuring timely and accurate responses. You’ll also support data gathering and processing for K-1 reporting, and assist in the preparation of various tax and corporate filings.

Key Responsibilities
Agency Correspondence & Research Support (75%)
- Review, research, and respond to incoming correspondence from the IRS and state agencies, particularly related to incorporation filings, name changes, and IRS Forms 990PF and 990T (including extensions and payments).
- Accurately reconcile refund checks, credit adjustments, and resolve discrepancies between internal records and government agency data.
- Manage and coordinate intake of physical mail from agencies, including regular mail received from the IRS and the State of Delaware.
- Track and manage assigned work using project management tools, following established workflows and timelines.
- Partner with internal team members across Tax, Finance, and Client Services to ensure timely and thorough resolution of client tax matters.
- Organize and manage the intake of K-1 forms to ensure accurate and timely data capture.
- Review input data for accuracy, and collaborate with the accounting team to obtain any missing or clarifying documentation from K-1 preparers.
- Maintain careful attention to detail to ensure data integrity throughout the process.
- Support the preparation of simple federal and state tax filings for private foundations.
- Contribute to other tax-related projects and tasks, as assigned by management, with a willingness to learn and support team goals.
- Experience communicating with the IRS or state agencies and supporting the resolution of tax-related matters.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy.
- Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Analytical thinker with a methodical approach to problem solving.
- Comfortable working with systems and learning technical tools.
- Detail-oriented and reliable — someone who takes ownership of their responsibilities.
- Able to work independently with confidence, while also contributing positively to a team environment.
- Eager to learn, take initiative, and follow through on tasks from start to finish.
- Understands how each task fits into the broader process, and values precision at every step.
- This role is based in our Fairfield, CT office and requires in-office presence five days a week.
