Job Description

Role Summary/Purpose: 

We are looking for a passionate and seasoned marketing professional to lead Marketing Operations within the Health and Wellness Marketing vertical at Synchrony Financial. Reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer, this role will be pivotal in defining the vision for our marketing resources and technology stack, implementing strategic planning processes, elevating insights and analytics, and streamlining marketing functions to align seamlessly with our overarching business objectives. This role will lead and mentor a high-performing team to drive these initiatives forward. 

Key Responsibilities

  •  Process Management: Simplify Marketing’s Strategic Workflows 
  • Develop, manage, and optimize automated and systematic processes for strategic planning, project and campaign workflows, and stakeholder approvals. 
  • Gain efficiency through consistent and efficient processes adhering to brand, content, and regulatory compliance governances. Ensure that upstream strategic work and planning run smoothly alongside downstream execution, and that they are systematically connected for optimum workflows. 
  •  Financial Management: Oversee $160mm+  Marketing’s Budget and Prioritize Spend 
  • Effective budget management and prioritizing resource spend with alignment to enterprise financial requirements, including revenue and profitability goals.  
  • Establish effective fiscal-year budget accountability and align with enterprise financial management and cost-optimization strategies. Implement effective scenario planning for resource prioritization and allocation of an 80+ org.  
  • Ensure marketing technology tools support complex marketing budget management, reporting, and analysis in a way that integrates with enterprise finance requirements. 
  •  Performance Management: Evaluate Marketing’s Impact 
  • Manage marketing’s overall performance and evaluate the value and impact that marketing delivers. 
  • Ensure marketing campaign results are directly aligned with business goals, achieving marketing’s intended outcomes. Optimize return on marketing’s various investments and return on marketing’s effort. 
  •  Martech Management: Optimize Marketing’s Technology 
  • Effectively manage and optimize the martech stack, strategy, and roadmap. 
  • Ensure that marketing is delivering well-orchestrated customer journeys and digital experiences while operating efficiently and consistently. Aid productivity with GenAI within tools and apps. 
  •  Talent Management: Lead Marketing’s Learning Agenda 
  • Lead and manage the marketing team’s learning agenda for upskilling on martech, such as GenAI usage, and soft skills, such as strategic thinking. It also ensures best practice consistency for the CMO to maintain a progressive and modern marketing organization. 
  • Lead training for marketing to keep up with emerging, complex, and essential technologies, and vendors’ capability enhancements. These include GenAI, customer data, or multichannel marketing platforms, marketing work management, and digital asset management platforms. 
  • Upskill marketing talent for vital soft skills, such as strategic thinking, intellectual curiosity, prompt engineering, and business acumen to keep up with the pace of change. 
  •  Resource Management: Scale Marketing’s Resources and Agency Roster 
  • Effective management of marketing’s resources, including internal centers of excellence services, external vendors, suppliers, and the agency roster. Anticipate and plan for capacity and resources to improve resource scalability for marketing’s agility. 
  • Extend and supplement the marketing team by growing and cultivating an effective resource ecosystem that is positioned for, and prepared to, deliver on an evolving growth strategy. Optimally, support those who run internal service operating models, such as an in-house creative agency and content production studio. 

Qualifications/Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's Degree or, in lieu of a degree, a high school equivalent plus15+ years executive marketing leadership experience.  
  • 10+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: consumer credit cards, healthcare, direct marketing with focus on lifecycle marketing and promotions  
  • In-depth business expertise and commercial awareness demonstrated through 7+ years of experience planning, designing, building and/or running business functions or processes.  
  • Experience managing organizations and other professionals with a minimum of 7 years of managerial responsibility.  

Desired Characteristics

  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is preferred. 
  • B2B and B2C Financial Services: Proven experience in both B2B and B2C financial services sectors, with a track record of driving marketing strategies and initiatives that cater to diverse customer segments. 
  • Strategic Vision: Proven track record in developing and implementing strategic marketing plans that align with overall business objectives and drive significant growth. 
  • Process Management Expertise: Demonstrated ability to develop, manage, and optimize automated and systematic processes for strategic planning, project and campaign workflows, and stakeholder approvals. 
  • Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of financial management principles, including budget management, resource allocation, and cost optimization. Proven ability to manage complex marketing budgets and align them with enterprise financial requirements. 
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, with the ability to leverage insights and analytics to optimize marketing performance and drive strategic decision-making. 
  • Martech Proficiency: Deep knowledge of marketing technology stacks, including CRM systems, marketing automation platforms, and analytics tools. Experience in managing and optimizing the martech strategy and roadmap. 
  • Team Leadership: Demonstrated leadership experience in managing, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams. Ability to foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and strategic thinking. 
  • Talent Development: Expertise in leading and managing a learning agenda for upskilling on emerging technologies such as GenAI and developing essential soft skills like strategic thinking and business acumen. 
  • Collaborative Mindset: Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including sales, finance, IT, and product teams. 
  • Excellent Communication: Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and strategies to diverse audiences. 
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and quickly adapt to changing business needs and priorities. 
  • Innovative Thinking: A strategic thinker with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement, always seeking new ways to enhance marketing efficiency and effectiveness. 

Grade/Level: 15

The salary range for this position is 200,000.00 - 330,000.00 USD Annual. This position is also eligible for an Annual Incentive Plan target of 25% of salary and an Annual Equity target of 25% of salary.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements

  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
