Facility: Miami Valley Hospital

The Office of Decedent Affairs (ODA) supervisor provides compassionate support and coordination to families following the death of a loved one within the healthcare system. Acting as a central point of contact, the ODA ensures clear and respectful communication between families, hospital staff, and outside agencies such as funeral homes and community partners. This position will also be involved with morgue census/capacity, development and education of morgue processes, communication with funeral homes to minimize barriers, monitoring cleanliness and supplies and other duties as identified.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Expertise in the EPIC EMR program (computer skills and documentation). Must be proficient in the required documentation in EPIC as it relates to postmortem documentation and ensures required documentation is complete
  • Experience with the principles, operations, and maintenance of hospital patient procedures and flow
  • Ability to move a minimum of 100 pounds and lift a minimum of 50 pounds required
  • Ability to conduct professional and empathetic phone conversations required
  • Self-directed and ability to work with little supervision
  • Good follow-through
  • Basic familiarity with medical terminology desired
  • Computer skills including knowledge of basic internet operation and Microsoft Office required
