The pay range is $95,000.00 - $171,000.00

About This Team
Our team within Roundel partners with cross-functional teams to define the technology strategy for Ad Tech platforms, including DSP, SSP, and Ad Servers, to enable self-service advertising solutions. We are driving a multi-year transformation to build scalable services that empower clients to create and manage the full lifecycle of ad campaigns. By focusing on developing advanced ad tech capabilities, we enable paid sponsored search listings for brands on Target.com and flagship apps. As a Senior Engineer at Target, you'll drive architectural innovation and technical excellence by leveraging deep expertise in software engineering patterns and system design. Your role encompasses architecting scalable solutions, mentoring team members, and making strategic technology decisions that align with business objectives. You'll lead code reviews, system design discussions, and implementation efforts while ensuring robust, maintainable solutions. Beyond development, you'll proactively identify and resolve complex technical challenges, contribute to disaster recovery planning, and establish data quality standards across the technology stack. Your expertise will help shape the future of Target's technical landscape through thoughtful evaluation of emerging technologies and proof-of-concept initiatives.

About You
- 4-year degree or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of software development experience
- Demonstrates strong proficiency in core development platforms within own domain
- Builds strong commitment within the team to support the appropriate team priorities
- Clearly communicates Agile concepts to partners within product team
- Demonstrates a solid understanding of the impact of own work on the team and/or guests
- Writes and organizes code using multiple computer languages, including distributed programming and understand different frameworks and paradigm
- Delivers high-performance, scalable, repeatable, and secure deliverables with broad impact (high throughput and low latency)
- Influences and applies data standards, policies, and procedures
- Maintains technical knowledge within areas of expertise
- Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education
- Experience with Java/J2EE, REST API development
- Experience developing microservices/application frameworks (Spring Boot), mono repo
- Experience with DB (Cassandra, Mongo, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL) or related tech
- Experience with development testing frameworks (Junit/Mockito)
- Experience with open-source logging and reporting solutions: Logstash, Elasticsearch and Kibana/Grafana
- Knowledge of Messaging and Event Systems such as Kafka
- Strong verbal, presentation, and written communications skills for technical audiences; able to explain technical solutions to technical teams
- Experience working on devops model
- Good interpersonal, problem solving, reasoning and analytical skills
- Experience with CI/CD technologies
- Understand Ad Tech business goals and objectives and build technology solutions that meet business requirements.
- Experience with building or integrating with DSP, SSP, Ad Server technology platforms in support of self-service Advertising.
- Experience with Kotlin
- Hands on Experience with programming/scripting languages: Python
- Have experience with Data Pipeline and workflow management tools such as Oozie.
