Job Summary

This position has the responsibility for overseeing and directing the patient safety program for all of Novant Health. Coordination among senior leaders, medical group leaders, practice managers and operational and clinical support personnel will enhance system reliability and improve patient safety within the framework of the First Do No Harm (FDNH) patient safety program. System improvement efforts will use quality and process improvement methodology through analysis of patient safety events, patient safety and quality metrics, patient safety culture assessment, and other available data. Ongoing improvement and strategic planning will draw from the evolving fields of patient safety science, healthcare quality research, and evidence-based best practices.

Qualifications

  • Education: Minimum of a bachelor's degree required in information technology, business administration, or a related field, required. Graduate degree, preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in healthcare leadership, required.
    • Minimum 5 years of quality improvement / project management/patient safety experience, required.
  • Additional Skills (required): Strong written and verbal communication skills; general computer knowledge; ability to self-direct, manage time and resources; ability to problem-solve and make decisions independently; ability to lead and function within a high-performing team; ability to travel throughout the Novant Health footprint. Valid Driver’s license.
