Here's a Summary Of Responsibilities

The Specialist, Events & Logistics will provide logistical expertise, support, and planning during multi-sport events, such as the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and other complex or multi-departmental events at the USOPC. This position will primarily support ground transportation planning and administration for the Events & Logistics team, including Games ground transportation needs. This role reports to the Manager, Events & Logistics.

  • Assist in the planning and execution of ground transportation strategies for all USOPC divisions in the lead-up, during, and post multi-sport events such as the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Pan American and Parapan American Games, other international competitions/events, and organizational events such as DC Celebration, U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Assembly, USOPC Hall of Fame and Media Summit.
  • Interface with National Governing Bodies (NGBs) and USOPC internal departments such as Sport Performance and Games Operations on their constituents’ needs to coordinate and plan ground transportation and connecting plans to accommodation and air travel resources.
  • Organize and track vehicle and VAPP needs and requirements for NGBs and USOPC divisions for Games. Support leadership with allocation of resources, as needed. Liaise with Local Organizing Committee (LOC) on procurement and payment for resources.
  • Contribute to the creation, dissemination, analysis, and evaluation of any Request for Proposals (RFPs) for ground transportation vendors in collaboration with the Manager. Support contract negotiation processes for ground transportation for Games and other critical events.
  • In collaboration with Events & Logistics leadership and the Games Operations team, develop and maintain the transportation and shuttle schedules for events and Games, ensuring accuracy of Games travel manifests. Ensure the database is kept up to date and all parties have the information needed to pass on to constituents. Collaborate across the Events & Logistics team to ensure data integrity between all USOPC and external systems with Games travel information.
  • Create functional area presentations and Games-time documents, pulling key info from organizing committee documents and other sources to distribute to internal and external constituents. Update and distribute Games planning documents in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Serve as a ground transport resource for auxiliary events, such as advance site visits and other Games/events preparation opportunities, as needed.
  • Participate in Games-time execution, on-site management, and post-event reconciliation for ground transportation functions or otherwise assigned Games role. Help in identifying staffing needs and creating job descriptions for the ground transportation functional area for multi-sport Games. Provide support for other Events & Logistics and internal functions during events and/or Games as necessary.
  • Assist with the integration of technology and programming to support logistical functional areas, with a focus on Games-time and event usage including assisting in process planning, project tracking and execution, adherence to deadlines, and cross-departmental communication.
  • Maintain the USOPC Uber for Business account as the primary administrator including creating voucher programs for various departmental events and needs, performing reconciliation, and keeping the staff list up to date.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Events & Logistics department.

Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be effective:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Must possess or will be required to obtain a valid passport
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • 3+ years in a transportation/logistics or sports event operational environment
  • Experience working in the Olympic/Paralympic or professional sports environment or for a National Governing Body (NGB) preferred
  • Experience with international transportation and logistics a plus
  • Experience leading operational teams a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Logistical aptitude and confidence in an operational environment
  • Precise attention to detail
  • Passion for sport and the ideals of the Olympic and Paralympic Movement

Here's Some More Information You Need To Know

  • Hiring pay range: $56,600 - $64,000 Per year
  • This Full- Time, Exempt position is intended to work 40 hours per week.
  • Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program, which has a 10% target. The USOPC may change or eliminate this program at any time at its sole discretion.
