NOTE: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule after successful completion of the first 90 days of employment.
JOB OVERVIEW:
Digital NEST is an innovative workforce development center that has welcomed thousands of youth from working-class, farmworker communities to develop the technical and professional skills they need to achieve their dreams. It is an exciting time for the NEST. We are focused on growth and expansion to five communities across the Monterey Bay (MBR) and San Joaquin Valley (SJVR) Regions in Northern California. Digital NEST has Centers in the heart of Watsonville, Salinas, Gilroy and Modesto and Stockton.
The Video Production Specialist will collaborate closely with the Digital Marketing Manager to oversee video production projects for bizzNEST clients and internal marketing campaigns. This role will be responsible for developing, producing, and editing a wide range of video content such as brand and testimonial videos, product tutorials and short-form videos for social media platforms.
The Specialist will lead a team of video interns, helping them build strong storytelling, technical, and content development skills. They will oversee projects from initial concept development through to final delivery, ensuring all content aligns with client goals. This position requires strong video production skills, a creative eye, technical expertise across all stages of production, and a passion for developing young talent.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Client-Based Projects (40%)
- Attend client intake meetings to co-develop project scopes and video production plans
- Draft proposals for client work, and get supervisor’s feedback to revise
- Oversee all phases of production, including pre-production planning, script development, on-site filming, and post-production editing
- Create project plans, assign tasks to the team, and manage projects in Asana
- Support the completion of delegated projects and ensure interns meet project milestones
- Ensure video content is optimized for various digital platforms (e.g., Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook)
- Review the interns’ work and offer feedback to support their development
- Proactively raise any risks to the project deliverables or timelines with the supervisor
- Lead senior and general video interns in two Digital NEST Centers
- Mentor and coach video interns to develop technical production, storytelling, and editing skills
- Support interns in completing technical certifications (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects) and building portfolios
- Assist in interviewing, onboarding, and training new interns in content creation and production processes
- Coach interns to ensure they are properly updating work progress, using equipment properly, and effectively using their time for skill and professional development
- Plan and direct video shoots including storyboarding, shot lists, filming, lighting, and sound recording
- Independently edit videos, color correct footage, and mix audio to deliver polished final products
- Design visual assets for video such as lower thirds, intros/outros, and motion graphics as needed
- Produce a variety of video content types, such as promotional videos, educational content, and short-form content that resonates with digital audiences
- Stay updated on digital and social media video trends and recommend new approaches
- Provide general support to fundraising efforts expected of all staff: showcase members and member work, speak articulately about programming and be a model representative and evangelist for Digital NEST in the community
- Performs other duties and tasks assigned by the supervisor
- At least 3 years of professional experience in video production and editing
- Experience with all phases of video production: pre-production, filming, and post-production
- Proficiency with video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, and Media Encoder
- Experience with visual effects, motion graphics, and animation using After Effects or similar tools
- Knowledge of filming equipment and techniques: DSLR/mirrorless cameras, lighting setups, microphones, and audio recorders
- Strong understanding of storytelling, pacing, and visual composition
- Ability to set up and direct shoots independently, including lighting and audio
- Familiarity with color correction/grading (e.g., Lumetri Color)
- Ability to create videos optimized for various platforms (e.g., YouTube, Instagram, TikTok)
- Experience supervising interns, volunteers, or staff on creative projects
- Experience managing projects, creating production schedules, tracking tasks, and identifying technical or scheduling challenges
- Strong attention to detail, creativity, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Bachelor’s degree in Film Production, Digital Media, or a related field
- Conversational or fluent in spoken Spanish and/or fluent in written Spanish
- Experience with photography, podcast production, live streaming, or social media content creation
- Passion for the mission of Digital NEST and belief in upholding organization’s core values
- Understanding of and sensitivity to issues of culture/ethnicity/race, gender, sexual identity, class/socioeconomic status and immigration status
