Job Description Summary:
This job implements tasks within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), follows internal conventions and procedures, makes technical decisions, collaborates with peers and project leads, and contributes to code and design reviews. Meet Our Team Data Services and Caching group team is responsible for providing the Data access capabilities for PayPal developers. We design, develop, enhance components that get called across every interaction between PayPal components and datastores. Our solutions need to scale across billions of such interactions, working with petabyte plus data and yet providing high availability and resilience. Your way to Impact o Ownership and strive for excellence in your role o Own implementation of a module/application/product o Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision in a team to define, design, implement, test, release rollout, and support software applications for PayPal. o Manages workload and other assignments efficiently while being able to resolve time-critical situations reliably and professionally o Identify and develop solutions to enhance the scalability, high availability, and reliability of datastores utilized within PayPal. In your day to day role you will: o Develop efficient, elegant, clean, reusable code with no unnecessary complication or abstraction. o Deliver quality solutions on schedule. o Works with business partners to understand the requirements and develop elegant reusable solutions/code. o Create / Review well-articulated, detailed low level design documents. o Presents issues and solutions to audiences of varying sizes. o Participates in the development of tools, systems and processes aimed at improving product supportability or overall support productivity. What do you need to bring? o 2 years of experience developing large scale applications, with good understanding of relational and free form databases o Hands on experience in JAVA o Deep understanding of advanced object-oriented design and development principles. o Basic level understanding of designing and developing data intensive applications and architecting them for scalability and availability. o Developing high traffic backend services, with low latency and designing them for scale. o Strong debugging and problem resolution skills o Experience applying software design patterns, data structures, algorithms. o Focuses on test driven development and automation. o Believes in Agile development and are comfortable with SCRUM process. o Refactor existing codebase and in understanding existing implementations to decide to refactor or rewrite.
