About the Position:

The Social Media Manager plays a crucial role in shaping The Fresh Market’s social presence, driving strategic initiatives, and optimizing performance across all social media channels. This individual will collaborate with Marketing Leadership to develop the overall social media strategy, then take full ownership—leading execution and ensuring alignment with the brand’s broader marketing and communications strategy.

Reporting to the Director of Paid & Digital Media, the Social Media Manager will spearhead effective performance growth for paid, owned, and earned social media activation. With a keen understanding of social media trends and data-driven decision-making, they will enhance visibility, engagement, and brand affinity through strategic content planning and execution. As a dynamic and motivated leader, this individual must be adept at quick-turn campaign activation, ensuring The Fresh Market remains agile and responsive to evolving social trends.

What You'll Do

Strategy & Execution:

  • Develop and lead the social media strategy across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube, and X.
  • Execute integrated campaigns—organic and influencer—aligned with marketing priorities and business objectives.
  • Ensure agility in content and campaign execution to respond quickly to trends and business needs.
  • Drive growth in visibility, engagement, and followers through strategic planning and optimization.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Manage and mentor the Social Media Coordinator and part-time Community Management Specialist.
  • Foster a creative, performance-driven team culture with clear goals, development plans, and regular feedback.
  • Encourage innovation and ownership, empowering the team to bring forward fresh, bold ideas.

Performance Optimization

  • Lead performance growth across paid, owned, and earned social media.
  • Define and monitor KPIs using analytics tools; deliver actionable insights and monthly executive reports.
  • Benchmark against industry trends and competitors to continually refine strategy and elevate brand presence.

Content & Community Engagement

  • Oversee content planning and production—video-first—ensuring consistency with brand voice and platform best practices.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, merchandising, HR, and external partners to support campaigns.
  • Guide community engagement strategy, ensuring timely, brand-consistent responses to comments, messages, and reviews.

Output Expectations

  • Maintain a strategic monthly content calendar that reflects seasonal and brand priorities.
  • Produce and oversee high-quality content—ideation, scripting, filming, editing.
  • Deliver weekly performance highlights and monthly reports with optimization recommendations and test insights.
  • Stay ahead of social trends, platform updates, and audience behaviors to drive innovation and relevance.

Qualifications:

At a Minimum, What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years’ experience in social media marketing, demonstrating expertise in content creation, platform management, and strategy execution.
  • Proven track record of driving follower growth, engagement, and measurable performance improvements across all major social media platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience deriving actionable insights from social media performance data.
  • Mastery of social media copywriting, content creation, and video editing (CapCut and native apps).
  • Deep understanding of the digital landscape, platform algorithms, and evolving social trends.
  • Experience working within a cross-functional team and managing integrated social media campaigns.
  • Skilled in use social media management platforms (Sprout Social preferred), Social Listening tools, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Passion for food and enthusiasm for creating innovative, compelling social content.
