Sexual Assault Advocate (Rathgeber Village Campus)


SAFE Alliance seeks a Sexual Assault Advocate for the Community Services Program Sexual Assault Services department.
The Sexual Assault Advocate provides client-centered, trauma-informed survivor accompaniments. Accompaniments include medical such as forensic exams, HIV prophylaxis, and strangulation care, law enforcement such as delayed reports, kit conversions, and detective interviews, Title IX hearings, and court proceedings. Provide strengths-based, trauma-informed follow-up advocacy to survivors. Provide face-to-face crisis intervention and support, discuss medical and legal options, and explain The SAFE Alliance support services such as counseling, legal advocacy, and follow-up services.

The SAFE Alliance exists to stop abuse for everyone by serving the survivors of child abuse, sexual assault and exploitation, and domestic violence. We are dedicated to ending violence through prevention, advocacy, and comprehensive services for individuals, families, and communities that have been affected by abuse. In the past two years, our community outreach and education has provided over 400 trainings to over 7,000 community members. Our various housing and shelter programs have provided over 46,000 nights/days of care and served over 3,000 youth and adults directly affected by abuse. We have provided over 10,000 callers/chats/texts, walk-in advocacy and crisis interventions or face-to-face emotional support through our 24/7 confidential SAFEline.

Position Details:

We are looking for one person full-time, exempt basis for an annual salary of $48,000-$50,000 dependent upon experience and an additional annual language differential of $3,600 for or those who are English/Spanish bilingual. The work location will be based at our Rathgeber Village Campus in the Mueller area. This position will include some travel in community or between campuses and will allow for some remote/hybrid work.This department maintains a staggered workweek to provide 24/7 services. This position is on-call 3 consecutive days a week for 12-hour shifts and receives an additional annual on-call stipend of $2,000.

Required Qualifications:


  • Possess a Bachelor's Degree in social or behavioral sciences, or related field. Sufficient relevant work experience may be substituted for degree.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preffered.
  • Minimum 1 year experience providing crisis stabilization support and advocacy, or case management services to trauma/sexual assault survivors required.
  • Assault Victim Advocacy program. Attendance is required once a month at an evening team meeting.
  • Work is in fast-paced, medical environments - must be able to think quickly.
  • Must be comfortable in your role as an expert while interfacing with other first responders.
  • Working in medical environments may include exposure to patients with a multitude of medical conditions. Hazards include exposure to communicable diseases and blood borne pathogen exposure. Emergency Departments recommend annual flu shot.
  • This position requires completion of the 40-Hour Office of Attorney General Sexual Assault Advocacy Training Program in person within six (6) months of starting employment, along with participating in annual continuing education throughout your employment.
  • Have a valid, State of Texas Driver's License (If in possession of an out-of-state license, obtain a State of Texas Driver's License within 90 days of beginning employment.) AND at least three (3) consecutive years of driving experience OR one (1) year of driving experience if over 27 years of age AND an acceptable driving record that covers at least the last three years of driver history.
  • Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check if applicable), as well as a pre-employment drug screen and TB test, if applicable.
