We are seeking exceptional candidates for two senior-level positions within the Division of Forestry, Forest Ecology and Economics Section:
- Natural Resources Research Scientist - Senior
- Forester - Senior
Key Responsibilities
- Natural Resources Research Scientist - Senior:
- Manage and analyze extensive datasets for various research initiatives.
- Focus on enhancing the complexity of homogeneous northern pine stands.
- Collaborate with the USFS on reconstructing fire history and evaluate the impact of prescribed burning on Heterobasidion root disease and oak wilt containment.
- Design and oversee databases, assist in statistical analyses, and prepare reports and manuscripts.
- Forester - Senior:
- Coordinate and execute field-based forestry tasks including data collection and the management of study sites.
- Collect and analyze spatial data using GIS for forestry projects.
- Facilitate communication with various partners, including state and county foresters.
- Develop innovative silviculture systems and establish marking guidelines for forestry managers.
- Proficiency in statistical analyses and database management.
- Experience with GIS and spatial data analysis.
- Strong written communication skills for report writing and manuscript preparation.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as R for data analysis.
- Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in forestry research or a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing research databases and conducting statistical analyses.
