The ESPN Content Indirect Finance team plays a critical role in supporting content-driven departments by managing and optimizing departmental expense budgets across digital, social, and television platforms.
As a Senior Financial Analyst on this team, you will collaborate closely with content leadership, HR, and accounting to drive financial planning and analysis, including labor forecasting, expense tracking, and initiative evaluation. This position offers high visibility across senior leadership in both content and finance, providing opportunities to influence strategic decisions through insightful financial analysis and actionable recommendations.
Job Responsibilities:
As a Senior Financial Analyst on this team, you will collaborate closely with content leadership, HR, and accounting to drive financial planning and analysis, including labor forecasting, expense tracking, and initiative evaluation. This position offers high visibility across senior leadership in both content and finance, providing opportunities to influence strategic decisions through insightful financial analysis and actionable recommendations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare annual operating budget, quarterly forecasts, and strategic plan for Indirect Content Costs for assigned client groups.
- Responsible for managing the planning process for assigned areas, which includes planning departmental spend, analyzing trends and presenting information professionally, concisely, accurately, and independent of management as needed.
- Prepare and maintain salary models and headcount for assigned operating areas including merit increases, promotions, overtime, and other labor related costs with an emphasis on contracted labor and corresponding allocations.
- Prepare salary and other expense variances as compared to the annual operating plan, quarterly forecasts, and strategic plan to facilitate the quarterly close and forecast cycles for Finance and Accounting review.
- Collaborate with Content management to analyze and track overall performance. Present findings of concerns and make recommendations for potential solutions.
- Serve as a strategic partner to senior leaders, aligning segment financial goals with ESPN policies.
- Engage in and oversee special projects as directed by management within the Finance organization.
- Ability to perform assigned responsibilities in a fast-paced work environment while working independently and with minimal instruction from management.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field required.
- A minimum of 3 years of work experience in a related field is required.
- Requires strong computer literacy in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- A proficiency in building and working with financial models is necessary.
- Candidate must be extremely detailed oriented, have strong organizational and interpersonal skills and possess superior communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience in SAP a plus.
