Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage the full cycle of Medicaid provider enrollment data, including loading from text files into database tables, conducting comparison of state data to current Optum network enrollment, submitting providers for load or update as appropriate, monitoring the progress of the data through various system processes, and maintaining records of items processed in order to provide information on workload and data trends
  • Understand the various data sources available and determine the best approach for combining data from multiple sources/platforms
  • Take ownership of assigned network processes and manage most aspects independently with minimal direction
  • Work with business partners to design and perform ad hoc and reoccuring reporting and analysis of provider data, and facilitate data loads and updates of provider data in response to requests from business partners
  • Lead the design and implementation of continuous improvements to the provider data load and maintenance processes
  • Perform routine analysis on provider data to identify and remediate errors and trends that could indicate larger system issues
  • Participate as a SME in meetings with business partners to provide insight into provider data as well as departmental processes for its maintenance
  • Present analysis and recommendations for operational and business review/planning
  • Assist other team members with using available technology to simplify workflows and improve data accuracy

This is a complex, fast-paced, matrixed environment with a lot of moving parts and some strict, state-mandated deadlines. You’ll be expected to maintain steady production to meet these deadlines while also working for continuous improvements and enhancements and taking on new challenges.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in business analysis
  • Experience with data transfer between multiple formats (delimited/nondelimited flat files, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server)
  • Knowledge of relational databases and table structure
  • Intermediate level of knowledge in Microsoft Access, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft SQL Server:
    • Understand data types and how to convert between systems during import/export processes
    • Identify matching data elements between multiple systems when the names/descriptions do not obviously indicate a match
    • Use Microsoft Access as a front end for data stored on Teams, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle databases
    • Develop user interfaces in Microsoft Access for multi table data sources to review and update data, including basic error checks and usability features
    • Develop code to handle full process from data import to reporting with minimal manual intervention
    • Write moderately complex queries for data research and ad hoc reporting: multi table queries using full, left, and right joins; matched/unmatched queries; summary and grouping queries
    • Develop automation processes using batch files and platform specific automation capabilities
  • Experience with data transfer between multiple formats (delimited/nondelimited flat files, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server)
  • Proven ability to research and learn independently without having specific training or documentation available
  • Proven high level of deductive reasoning and problem solving abilities
  • Proven ability to analyze for root cause and identify solutions and next steps
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Microsoft Teams as a data sharing platform using Microsoft Access and/or Microsoft SQL Server as a data source
  • Experience using Microsoft Sharepoint as a data sharing platform using Microsoft Access and/or Microsoft SQL Server as a data source
  • Knowledge of provider demographic data, especially as it relates to Medicaid requirements (NPI/Medicaid ID/address alignment, eligibility dates, provider type and specialty)
  • Knowledge of Optum systems (OHBS Facets, NDB, CSP Facets) and pricing configuration in each system

The salary range for this role is $71,600 to $140,600 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
