The Senior Analyst, Client Services, Prospect Research provides prospect research, strategy and support for members of the Division of Philanthropy, a large fundraising office that raises over $400M annually in support of cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, the leading cancer hospital in New England. The Senior Analyst partners with Philanthropy staff working with individual, corporate, and foundation donors and prospects. Responsible for creating concise, accurate, and timely research products and works closely with internal clients to strategically apply this information in raising funds for Dana-Farber. Responsible for assisting the entire Division with reaching financial goals. Reports to Senior Associate Director, Prospect Research.
The onboarding of this role will include a comprehensive training process which includes completion of online modules, shadowing colleagues, as well as hands-on learning experiences throughout the first calendar year in the role.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required
The Senior Analyst must be curious, focused, detail-oriented, and persistent in their pursuit of prospect information. They should be proficient in interpreting complex documents, including corporate proxy statements and insider stock filings. This position requires superior communication, organizational, project management, writing, and analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple client relationships and meet deadlines. Comfort working both independently and on team projects. Underlying all work is the need for professionalism and discretion while handling confidential information.
Technical Skills: Expertise in broad range of search techniques; knowledge of prospect research resources such as iWave, LexisNexis, Foundation Directory, IAPD and EDGAR, and Relationship Science; familiarity with using data-driven strategies to support portfolio management; agility with Microsoft Office applications; experience with international research and with data mining is a plus.

- Lead regular meetings with internal clients across Principal Gifts and Major Gifts teams, to discuss research needs and develop strategies for key prospects.
- Translate research requests and projects into targeted and actionable deliverables, communicating clearly with clients about expected outcome and timeline.
- Create concise, accurate, and timely research products on individual prospects using biographical and financial information, as well as philanthropic history. Use findings to estimate gift capacity and inform portfolio assignment decisions.
- In partnership with Analytics staff, deliver portfolio reviews for assigned Principal and Major Gifts fundraisers.
- Track and disseminate news and information about top donors and prospects.
- Assist with occasional research as needed for Dana-Farber’s President and Chief Philanthropy Officer, and for other business units such as Foundation Relations, Corporate Partnerships, and Event Fundraising.
- Continuously build on fundraising and prospect research knowledge and skills by seeking professional development opportunities and keeping apprised of relevant publications, products, and tools.
