NJ based leading Bank is looking to add a Senior Accountant to their team. The Senior Accountant assists the Management Reporting Manager in ensuring accurate and complete internal financial reporting according to GAAP, regulatory standards, and company policies. Responsibilities include analyzing financial data (e.g., trends, costs, revenues) and offering insights and suggestions for improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare financial statements in line with accounting policies.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and controls for assets, liabilities, and transactions in compliance with GAAP.
- Coordinate monthly journal entries across the bank to close reporting periods.
- Manage processing of prepaid, accruals, fixed assets, and monthly entries.
- Provide support for general ledger reconciliations and adjustments.
- Analyze monthly results and investigate unusual activity to ensure accuracy.
- Conduct variance analysis compared to prior periods and budget.
- Assist auditors with audit procedures.
- Prepare monthly financial board presentations.
- Record monthly federal, state, and local tax provisions.
- Work with external consultants on tax calculations related to acquisitions.
- Maintain accounting records for equity, tax roll forwards, and stock transactions.
- Ensure accurate transition of acquired banks' financial records.
- Update and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- 3-6 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting concepts and practices with excellent analytical skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (advanced Excel) and automated financial software (Workiva, Prologue general ledger is a plus).
- Ability to independently manage complex tasks and use strategic experience to plan and accomplish goals.
Preferred Skills:
- Previous experience in banking or financial services industry or public accounting
- CPA or CPA track
Compensation: $90,000-$110,000
Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
