The Vaccines and Immune Therapies group at AstraZeneca is developing next-generation vaccines and antibody-based treatment modalities to combat viral and bacterial infections. Conduct in vitro and in vivo experiments to support the development of pipeline programs, including monoclonal antibodies and other biologic modalities against viral and bacterial targets.

The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $80,653 to $120,980. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Accountabilities
Conduct in vitro and in vivo experiments to support the development of pipeline programs, including monoclonal antibodies and other biologic modalities against viral and bacterial targets.
Essential Skills/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or Master's degree with 0-3 years of experience in a laboratory setting, ideally in the biopharmaceutical industry.
- Broad experience required in performing in vitro assays to access monoclonal antibody function (binding assays such as ELISA and biolayer interferometry, flow cytometry, etc).
- Experience in mammalian cell culture is required.
- Additional experience in high throughput screening and assays specific to functional evaluation of drug candidates against infectious disease targets, such as virus neutralization assays, is preferred.
- Molecular biology, as well as experience with animal models of viral or bacterial infection, will be considered a plus.
- Experience working with lab automation, such as liquid handlers, is a plus.
- The candidate must be dedicated to maintaining high laboratory standards with regard to safety and quality, and must possess good organization, record keeping, and communication skills.
- Must be able to understand, conduct, and interpret results of technically challenging experiments with minimum supervision.
