We are looking for an enthusiastic PhD-level scientist interested in developing and implementing in vitro cellular models within the Global Investigative Toxicology group at Sanofi USA for safety applications. The incumbent will perform in vitro studies to assess the role of therapeutic modalities and uncover mechanisms that lead to unexpected toxicity of small and large molecule candidates by employing fit-for-purpose cutting edge in vitro models. The successful candidate must have good collaborative skills to smoothly work with Sanofi colleagues across sites and with external vendors, a high level of scientific rigor in their work, and exemplary communication skills. You will collaborate with a diverse group of experts at Sanofi to push the boundaries of science and help to bring innovative and safe medications to the patients.

Main Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize physiologically relevant in vitro models, including providing technical expertise, design and execute qualification plans, and establish relevant endpoint assays to dissect the molecular mechanisms of toxicity.
- Independently review literature to generate hypotheses for experimental testing. Design and execute relevant experiments to test hypotheses, including data analysis and its interpretation.
- Collaborate with external vendors on technology and assay evaluation, where appropriate.
- Work with project teams to address and investigate safety mechanisms and help projects meet development timelines.
- Author investigative reports to support inclusion of results in regulatory submissions as needed.
- Represent Sanofi on external consortia.
Requirements & Qualifications
- PhD in a biological field with 0-3 years of postdoctoral experience OR Master’s Degree with 4+ years relevant experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical setting.
- A degree in toxicology, pharmacology, immunology, biomedical engineering, or equivalent is preferred.
- Proven experience and expertise in mammalian cell culture (primary, iPSC), imaging (high content, confocal), molecular biology (RNA, DNA, protein) endpoints, and biochemical endpoints is a must.
- Working knowledge of organ-on-a-chip/MPS, 3D models, or complex in vitro systems will be an advantage.
- Experience in toxicity assays related to liver, kidney or immunology is also a plus.
- Established record of scientific contribution in peer-reviewed journals and scientific symposiums.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Occasional domestic travel to scientific conferences as permitted by Sanofi travel policies. Availability to start in Q1 2026.
- The position is lab-based and requires the incumbent to be on-site most days of the week in Cambridge, MA.
