Risk & Inventory Data Specialist
Position Summary
The Risk & Inventory Data Specialist supports the Asset Protection Safety organization by providing actionable insights through the analysis of inventory, shrink, exception reports, and other risk-related data. This position plays a key role in identifying patterns, uncovering root causes, and driving decisions that reduce loss, improve process efficiency, and support safety and compliance goals.

Position Summary
The Risk & Inventory Data Specialist supports the Asset Protection Safety organization by providing actionable insights through the analysis of inventory, shrink, exception reports, and other risk-related data. This position plays a key role in identifying patterns, uncovering root causes, and driving decisions that reduce loss, improve process efficiency, and support safety and compliance goals.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory & Shrink Analysis
- Analyze inventory data to identify variances, patterns, and trends in shrink across locations, departments, or SKUs.
- Partner with inventory control, finance, and operations to understand underlying causes of shrink.
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools to visualize shrink trends and forecast potential risk areas.
- Monitor exception-based reporting from POS, CCTV, and inventory systems to identify unusual activity or potential fraud.
- Collaborate with Asset Protection field teams to escalate and investigate anomalies.
- Support continuous improvement of exception report parameters to enhance detection accuracy.
- Build and maintain macro-driven Excel tools, Power BI dashboards, or other visualization platforms to summarize and present key findings.
- Automate repetitive reporting tasks and develop tools for use by field AP and Safety teams.
- Deliver regular and ad hoc reports to leadership with data-driven recommendations.
- Assist in identifying high-risk locations or operations based on historical data and predictive analysis.
- Support site-level audits and compliance reviews with data extracts and performance metrics
- Contribute to internal investigations and risk mitigation initiatives through data mining and pattern analysis.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including Operations, Inventory Control, IT, and Legal to support risk reduction strategies.
- Present data insights and recommendations to stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
- May require support to visit or travel stores, distribution centers depending on risk patterns or audits needed to complete.
- Experience working with retail inventory or point-of-sale systems.
- Familiarity with exception-based reporting tools (e.g., XBR, Zebra Prescriptive Analytics, etc.).
- Proficiency in Excel (macros, pivot tables, advanced formulas), and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with high attention to detail.
- Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Finance, Supply Chain, or related field.
- Knowledge of loss prevention and safety compliance. 2+ years of experience in a data analysis or reporting role; experience in retail, distribution, or asset protection preferred
- Experience with SQL or other query tools is a strong plus.

- Base salary range of $70,000-$80,000;
- Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program; and
