Job Summary:

As a Rigging Specialist I at JTS, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and precise movement of heavy equipment and components within the yard to support generator unit assembly. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent communication skills, and meticulous attention to detail. You will work closely with crane operators and other team members to ensure all rigging operations are executed to the highest standards of safety and accuracy.

  • Strong communicator with situational awareness during equipment movement
  • Calm under pressure and able to adapt to changing priorities
  • Safety-conscious with the ability to maintain a secure work perimeter
  • Proficient forklift operator
  • Comfortable using measuring tools and performing basic math
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently
  • Physically able to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Willing and able to work in all weather conditions

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and inspect rigging gear including shackles, slings, chains, and straps
  • Set up and dismantle rigging equipment for lifting operations
  • Secure loads for lifting and ensure proper weight distribution
  • Operate aerial lifts and use fall protection equipment as required
  • Assist in loading and unloading heavy equipment and completed units onto transport trucks
  • Maintain constant communication with crane operators using hand signals and radios
  • Conduct pre-lift planning and risk assessments with team members
  • Monitor rigging operations to ensure compliance with safety standards and load limits
  • Identify and report any equipment defects or safety hazards
  • Collaborate with team members to adjust installation or preparation plans as needed
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and rigging gear are stored properly

Qualifications & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Prior experience in rigging and crane operations (preferred)
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Familiar with blueprints and lift plans
  • Strong attention to detail and a solid work ethic
  • Effective time management and adaptability
  • Familiarity with job site safety standards and PPE usage
  • Reliable attendance and a respectful, responsible attitude
