Cancer Care Northwest is seeking a Full-time Research Financial Analyst
JOB SUMMARY: The Research Financial Analyst plays a pivotal role in ensuring the financial integrity and operational efficiency of sponsored clinical studies. Working closely with the research team, finance, and study sponsors/CROs, the Research Financial Analyst will own end‑to‑end billing and payment processes-from configuring study builds in the Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS) and generating accurate invoices to reconciling incoming payments and approving vendor charges. The position will also drive insightful financial analysis and reporting at both the study and portfolio levels, maintain study‑level accounting in accordance, and conduct compliance reviews against protocol budgets and sponsor contracts. Through regular assessment of sponsor financial health and timely response to ad hoc financial requests, the Research Financial Analyst help the organization manage risk, optimize cash flow, and support timely decision‑making across the research pipeline.

Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Research Invoicing
- Generate and distribute accurate study‐specific invoices to sponsors and CROs according to contracted billing schedules.
- Collaborate with study team to capture all billable activities (e.g., patient visits, lab tests, assessments) and ensure timely submission.
- Payment Reconciliation
- Monitor incoming payments, apply cash receipts to open invoices, and resolve unapplied or short payments.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between expected and received amounts.
- Vendor Invoice Review & Approval
- Review vendor invoices (e.g., labs, imaging centers) for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to service agreements.
- Route invoices through the appropriate approval workflows and escalate exceptions for resolution.
- Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports summarizing study spend vs. budget at both study and portfolio levels.
- Conduct variance analyses to explain cost drivers, forecast spend-through rates, and highlight areas of potential overspend or underutilization.
- Develop and maintain financial dashboards to visually display financials in real-time.
- Study Level Accounting
- Maintain detailed general‐ledger subaccounts for each protocol.
- Review study level effort reporting for accuracy and apply to study subaccounts.
- Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS) Study Builds
- Configure financial modules and billing calendars within the CTMS for new and amended protocols.
- Billing Compliance Review
- Audit expected vendor charges to ensure invoice has been received and paid.
- Request reversal of any charges inadvertently billed to insurance.
- Document findings, recommend corrective actions, and support internal and external compliance audits.
- Pharma Company Financial Health Assessments
- Analyze sponsors' financial statements, credit ratings, and payment histories to assess risk and guide contracting strategy.
- Provide summaries of sponsor solvency and payment performance to inform study budgeting decisions.
- Ad Hoc Financial Requests
- Respond to one off requests from study sponsors, research staff and leadership for custom financial analyses, budget modifications, and ad hoc reporting.
- Performs all other duties/responsibilities as necessary or assigned.
Formal Education, Certification/Licensure, and Prior Experience: to perform this job successfully, an individual must have:
- Bachelor's degree or at least two years' experience in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Research Administration or equivalent which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Experience working with clinical research finance
- SoCRA or ACRP certification
- Previous oncology experience
