Key Responsibilities
As a Prior Authorization Pharmacist, your essential duties will include:
- Consulting with Physicians and Providers: Address clinical inquiries, interpret guideline criteria, and render coverage decisions for prior authorization requests.
- Coordinating Case Decisions: Promptly communicate approvals or denials to physicians, health plans, employer groups, patients, and other healthcare professionals.
- Handling Inbound Calls: Provide assistance with escalations and inquiries from physicians, patients, and healthcare providers regarding prior authorization matters.
- Building Collaborative Relationships: Foster and maintain effective communication with health plans, employer group personnel, and other healthcare partners.
- Supporting Special Projects: Engage in associated projects and provide after-hours/on-call support as necessary.
To excel in this role, candidates must possess:
- Active Pharmacist License: Must be licensed and in good standing in your state of residence.
- Experience in Prior Authorization: Familiarity with prior authorization processes within a PBM (Pharmacy Benefit Management) or managed care environment.
- Background in PBM, Managed Care, or VA Healthcare: Relevant experience in these sectors is advantageous for success in this position.
- Must hold an active Pharmacist License in good standing.
- Proven experience in prior authorization within a PBM or managed care context.
- Educational Requirement: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or equivalent.

- Competitive Compensation - Starting at \(53 per hour (~\)110,240 annual equivalent), with pay increases upon conversion to a permanent position.
