- Radiology Technician works with Providers to diagnose and treat patients using diagnostic imaging examinations. The Radiology Technician prepares patients and equipment for radiology procedures, performs the tests, and maintains the equipment.
Responsibilities And Duties
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current radiology practices.
- Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of patients and staff.
- Ensure proper sterilization, maintaining radiographic equipment and reporting any equipment failures.
- Calibrate the equipment to ensure clear, usable images are taken of the correct area, as specified by the doctor.
- Monitor patients and ensure their safety during imaging procedures.
- Position patients and equipment to capture the correct area and produce clear images.
- Prepare and educate patients about the imaging procedure.
- Key commands and data into computer to document.
- Review patients’ chart for imaging procedure.
Education And Work Experience
- High school diploma required;
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Radiology or Radiologic Technology
- Experience in providing direct patient care. Physician office setting preferred
- Computer literacy
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to operate and understand radiologic technology and equipment
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods of time
- Must be adaptable to change
- Work requires a variety of physical activities including standing and walking for long periods of time, bending, stooping, and lifting.
- The work environment may be physically confining.
- Must be able to exchange accurate information with patients, family, peers and medical personnel.
