Job Summary

The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all raw materials, in-process production, and finished products meet company and industry quality standards. This role involves inspecting products, maintaining records, identifying defects, and recommending process improvements to enhance overall product quality. The ideal candidate will have experience with quality control procedures, testing methodologies, and inspection equipment in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret instructions, blueprints, and specifications to understand quality expectations.
  • Inspect and approve or reject raw materials based on established quality standards.
  • Select output samples and perform inspections using appropriate measuring tools and testing methods.
  • Measure product dimensions, examine functionality, and compare against specifications.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, including detailed reports and performance logs.
  • Monitor and ensure production processes align with quality and safety standards.
  • Check gauges and testing equipment for proper functionality and notify the supervisor if maintenance is required.
  • Prepare, scan, and electronically file quality control reports.
  • Recommend improvements to production and quality control processes.
  • Educate production team members on quality control best practices when requested.
  • Address and resolve quality-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Initiate and process Non-Conforming Material Reports (NCMRs) and properly tag defective materials until dispositioned.


Specific Qualifications

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Proven experience as a Quality Inspector or similar role in manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with quality testing machines, systems, and inspection tools.
  • Thorough knowledge of quality control standards and testing methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, work instructions, and quality specifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel with the ability to locate, open, modify, and save electronic files.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a quality control or inspection role.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 30-50 lbs.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking on uneven concrete surfaces.
