Job Overview

The QC Lab Technician is responsible for supporting the day-to-day lab functions and completing routine procedures under the direction of the Quality Control Supervisor.

Requirements

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports all laboratory functions carried out by the Scientists in the QC laboratory, including but not limited to: Sample collection (raw materials from quarantine, finished good QC samples, retention samples, finished goods for retest purposes).
  • Prepares the necessary sample preparation to assist in testing, including preparing solutions.
  • Conduct the following QC Analysis: pH, Conductivity, Osmolality, Density and Top Spread Sterility testing.
  • Testing materials or products that have various biosafety levels.
  • Conducts Calibration & Temperature checks of Fridges, Freezers, and Incubators.
  • Performs cleaning of all glassware and sterilizing components for routine testing (autoclaved materials, etc.).
  • Disposes of samples once testing is completed.
  • Aids in retention sample storage handles and drops off hazardous materials in the hazardous waste drop off location.
  • Collaborates with manager, team lead and team members daily to meet testing deadlines.
  • Follows all Standard Operating Procedures for assigned tasks and area.
  • Responsible for maintaining appropriate training schedule as it pertains to their primary occupational duties.
  • Maintains accurate inventory of materials.
  • Accurately records all completion data into the appropriate database, and / or appropriately completes all necessary paperwork.
  • Learns new procedures and accepts new assignments within reasonable timeframes, to be agreed upon by the employee and supervisor.
  • Recognizes and resolves problems; troubleshoots malfunctions in procedures and uses alternative methods if available.
  • Coordinates efforts of effective work activities that contribute to company needs.
  • Demonstrates good judgment in handling situations not covered by written or verbal instructions.

EDUCATION

  • High school level chemistry or biology and / or applicable lab experience preferred

Knowledge / Skills / Experience

  • A minimum of 1 years lab experience preferred
  • Background in Chemistry, Biology or related science preferred
  • Good human relations and oral/written communication skills
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations on basic dilutions and conversions
  • Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to stand on feet for a total of 8-10 hours daily
  • Must be able to carry, lift, push and pull up to 40 pounds
  • Effective communication skills by conveying necessary information accurately, listening effectively
