Roncelli’s internship program offers college students hands-on experience in construction, with placements aligned to their studies and career goals. Interns gain exposure to real projects in Construction Management and Engineering, supported by experienced mentors.

Interns participate in planning, scheduling, budgeting, quality control, and safety oversight, while learning in a culture rooted in Safety, Family, Integrity, Adaptability, and Community. The program also includes training sessions, site tours, and team-building events.

By the end of the program, interns leave with practical skills, professional growth, and potential pathways to future internships or full-time roles at Roncelli.

The Location

Roncelli’s headquarters is in Sterling Heights, Michigan. This position will report to the jobsite assigned and from time to time, report to the Sterling Heights office.

The Internship Program for Summer 2026 begins May 11, 2026

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • Ideal candidates will be in their 3rd or 4th year of a Construction Management program
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to work both in the office and on active job sites
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Pre-employment drug screen is required; background check may be required depending on the project site assignment

Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day field operations on active construction sites.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and coordination under the supervision of a mentor or project superintendent.
  • Help monitor construction quality and ensure work aligns with project plans and specifications.
  • Observe and participate in safety inspections and compliance activities.
  • Assist with budget tracking, material coordination, and documentation for projects.
  • Learn to coordinate subcontractors and vendors, including tracking progress and resolving minor issues.
  • Participate in preconstruction meetings, site meetings, and team check-ins.
  • Gain exposure to construction software and tools (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office) for project tracking and reporting.
  • Support reporting and documentation, including daily logs, photos, and progress updates.
  • Engage in training sessions, site tours, and mentoring activities to build technical and leadership skills.
  • Learn the full construction lifecycle, from preconstruction through project closeout.

Work Environment

This role is primarily field-based, with work performed on active construction sites. Interns may be exposed to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, and other typical construction site elements. Some office work is required for tasks such as reporting, scheduling, and project coordination. The position may involve walking, standing, climbing, and occasional lifting of light materials or equipment. Travel between job sites and Roncelli’s Sterling Heights, MI headquarters may be required. Interns will work closely with mentors, project teams, subcontractors, and vendors, gaining exposure to real-world construction operations.
