We are seeking an environmental engineer, geologist, or scientist to support GEI’s growing environmental remediation services within the oil and gas industry nationally. The ideal candidate will be technical-minded and will have experience working in the oil and gas industry at large, complex sites such as refineries, bulk terminals, and other industrial facilities within state- and/or federally-led regulatory programs. The candidate will bring a deep focus on technical excellence and strategic thinking. Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- Perform technical analysis related to non-aqueous phase liquid (NAPL) such as delineation, stability, recoverability, and natural source zone depletion (NSZD) evaluations.
- Perform similar technical analysis for other contaminants and phases, e.g., petroleum hydrocarbons, chlorinated solvents, metals, and PFAS.
- Prepare conceptual site models (CSMs).
- Prepare and review plans, reports and technical presentations for delivery to clients and regulators.
- Perform and/or manage on-site field staff during the implementation of investigation and design projects.
- Develop and task manage project plans, work scopes, schedules, and budgets with associated tracking and organizational tools.
- Work with staff and senior technical experts in offices throughout the nation to deliver high quality work products to local clients.
- Provide technical direction and training to staff, as necessary to complete assignments.
- Mentor, coach, and develop junior staff.
- Delegate and coordinate project tasks.
- Excellent technical analysis and data management skills.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and independently in small and large teams.
- Experience working at NAPL remediation sites such as refineries, bulk terminals, and other industrial facilities within state- and/or federally-led regulatory programs.
- Ability to be adaptive, creative, and bring inventive solutions to projects and problems.
- Willingness to learn new skills and build partnerships with clients and colleagues.
- Excellent organization, schedule, and budget management skills.
- Strong work ethic with a positive attitude and commitment to producing quality work.
- Overnight travel may be required; approximately 10 to 15%.
- Experience with human health and/or ecological risk assessment is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, hydrogeology, geology, or similar science.
- 5+ years of professional experience relevant to environmental consulting.
- Demonstrated ability to perform technical analysis and write technical reports.
- Technical aptitude for environmental and remedial evaluations.
- Experience with plume stability evaluations, LNAPL transmissivity test implementation and evaluation, NSZD test implementation and evaluation, and/or similar evaluations.
- Programming capability (e.g., R or Python) to perform complex evaluations and/or automate routine tasks.
- Experience working with databases (e.g., EQuIS) and GIS.
- Professional registration (e.g., P.E., LSP, P.G., etc.) or ability to obtain in area of expertise.
- Master’s degree in environmental engineering, hydrogeology, geology, or similar science.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER training.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s license.
- Willingness and ability to travel on short-term assignments as needed.
