About The Company

Our client is a well-established and growing General Contractor specializing in public works and K-12 educational construction across the Sacramento region. The team is dedicated to delivering high-quality, community-focused projects that enhance learning environments and local infrastructure.

Seeking an experienced Project Director to lead multiple project teams and drive successful execution from preconstruction through closeout.

Position Overview

The Project Director will provide strategic leadership, oversight, and support to project managers, superintendents, and field staff across multiple construction projects. This role ensures operational excellence, client satisfaction, financial performance, and compliance with all public works requirements. The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of DSA processes, K-12 construction standards, and large-scale project delivery within the public sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee multiple construction projects simultaneously, ensuring schedule, budget, safety, and quality compliance.
  • Serve as primary executive-level liaison with school districts, public agencies, architects, and project consultants.
  • Support project teams during preconstruction, including budgeting, constructability reviews, scheduling, and procurement strategies.
  • Monitor project financials and performance metrics; identify and mitigate risks proactively.
  • Mentor and develop project managers, engineers, and superintendents to strengthen team capabilities.
  • Ensure adherence to DSA requirements, prevailing wage laws, and other public works regulations.
  • Provide leadership during negotiations, change order management, and dispute resolution.
  • Drive a culture of safety, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across all projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of progressive construction management experience, with at least 10 years managing public works or K-12 projects.
  • Proven success overseeing multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of DSA processes, school district procedures, and public contracting requirements.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and client-relationship skills.
  • Proficiency with industry software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, P6, MS Project).
  • Ability to resolve complex challenges with a collaborative and solutions-oriented approach.
