Production Manager – 1st Shift

Owensboro, KY | Monday–Friday, 7 AM–3:30 PM (occasional weekends)

About The Role

Hood Container Corporation is seeking an experienced Production Manager to join our Owensboro, KY plant. This role leads a team of full-time and temporary employees, ensuring production goals are met safely, efficiently, and with the highest quality. The Production Manager plays a key role in coaching and developing staff, driving continuous improvement, and fostering collaboration across departments to deliver on customer commitments.

How You Will Contribute

• Lead safety, quality, productivity, and improvement initiatives for 1st shift.
• Ensure compliance with plant safety rules, regulations, and best practices.
• Deliver production plans on time and to quality/efficiency standards.
• Set up and adjust production lines for maximum efficiency.
• Manage and support Coordinators, Leads, and production staff on daily needs.
• Track and enter labor and production data accurately.
• Investigate and resolve quality, safety, or productivity issues (root cause analysis).
• Ensure proper use of equipment and employee training documentation.
• Review production paperwork for accuracy and compliance.
• Provide coaching, feedback, and accountability to hourly production employees.
• Maintain flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.
  
  

What It Takes

• Associate degree or 3–5 years of manufacturing supervisory experience.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and team motivation skills.
• Continuous Improvement/Lean methodology experience (preferred).
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills (preferred).
• Industry experience in packaging solutions (preferred).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Ability to work in hot/humid conditions with required PPE (steel toes, safety glasses, hearing protection).
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work shifts up to 12 hours if needed.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
