Job Description
Position Overview: The Product Engineer will manage new product introduction and provide production support engineering for products after transfer from design to in-house or outsourced production. This role will also be responsible for preparing competitive bids, managing quotes, and interfacing directly with customers, ensuring alignment with their needs and the company’s internal teams. The ideal candidate will have a solid engineering background, strong analytical skills, and the interpersonal acumen necessary for a customer-facing role.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- New Product Introduction & Production Support:
- Manage, support, and coordinate projects with minimal guidance.
- Lead design or project/sub-project efforts, ensuring accountability for meeting deadlines for design deliverables.
- Interface with R&D, Design, Engineering, and other departments to ensure product manufacturability.
- Develop and sustain process improvements to reduce production costs and increase yields.
- Lead and participate in design reviews and engineering analysis for New Product Development (NPD) projects.
- Support the setup of production lines, including SPC charts and yield reports for new production lines.
- Customer Interaction & Quoting:
- Prepare and estimate competitive bids for new projects using Oracle/Agile/Excel.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Supply Chain, Sales, and other departments to determine pricing and manufacturing methods for new or complex orders.
- Apply pricing standards and estimate material requirements and processes to complete quotes/orders.
- Maintain effective contact with internal and external customers, providing input and feedback on relevant issues.
- Support customer programs and marketing initiatives by contributing valuable engineering insights.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional departments including Operations, Quality, Purchasing, and Planning.
- Collaborate with teams to develop innovative design solutions that meet customer and regulatory requirements.
- Lead process improvement initiatives to increase throughput, reduce process time, and improve yields.
- Support installation, debugging, and setup of new fixtures and manufacturing equipment/processes.
- Continuous Improvement & Problem-Solving:
- Leverage Lean Six Sigma practices in daily activities and problem-solving.
- Investigate and implement new manufacturing methods or technologies to enhance current processes and increase capacity.
- Coordinate technical processes on projects such as APQP, DFMEA, and PFMEA reviews.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related field; equivalent work experience may be substituted.
- Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience, preferably in a contract manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to identify root causes for action/resolution.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) is required.
- Ability to read and understand engineering prints/drawings/documents.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of interacting effectively with customers and cross-functional teams.
- Preferred:
- Strong understanding of multi-level Bills of Materials and manufacturing processes.
- Proven record of managing continuous process improvement activities.
- Experience with Oracle and Agile.
- Experience in procurement, planning, production management, or master scheduling.
