General Description
The Sourcing Manager leads the sourcing of new and existing materials (ingredients or packaging material) to support the manufacturing of finished goods according to established procedures, practices, and policies. They will collaborate on innovation projects that reduce & control costs, improve quality, and drive efficiency.

Essential Duties
- Calculates and analyzes supply chain costs and suggests improving quality and decreasing expenditure. Support ongoing improvements to all sourcing programs, procedures, systems, & tools.
- Coordinate with the plant manager to ensure the availability of all raw materials on a timely basis to comply with the production plan.
- Effective collaboration within a team culture committed to proactivity, creativity, detail-orientation, collaboration, and kindness with internal and external partners.
- Highly skilled at managing competing priorities; proactive in renegotiating expectations with others to ensure they can deliver on what is most important.
- Major contributor to weekly planning meetings with the planning team (sourcing, production, logistics) to build the buying plan around the production schedule
- Maintains a best-in-class supplier management program, effectively deploying team resources according to supplier Tier.
- Exceptional account management skills in building long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships with our most strategic suppliers, demonstrating impeccable professionalism, accountability, collaboration, and the ability to find win-win solutions.
- Highly professional, prepared, and operating with a sense of urgency to support the team in the resolution of short-term supply issues.
- Develops and implements sourcing strategies for all core ingredients to support the long-term health and growth of the company, including driving cost savings, reducing supply assurance risk, enhancing food safety and quality, and improving manufacturing efficiency.
- Leverages deep industry experience and knowledge of relevant industry trends – including regulatory changes, new policies, and market, or supply disruptions - that could impact business.
- Manages and resolves issues on established Key Performance Indicators related to supply and supply availability (e.g., Right First Time, identify and assess the severity of high-risk items, contract shortages, holds, contract management, on-hand inventory).
- Creative, collaborative, and flexible in working with partner departments – including Planning, Quality Assurances, Innovation, Logistics, & Production - to understand constraints and identify solutions to improve ways of working.
- Leverages expertise in forecast & supply planning tools and systems to make recommendations and act on supply management decisions.
- High business acumen and fluent in sales and operations planning process; able to explain to team implications as it pertains to overall business performance and specifics on what it means for sourcing and their category area.
- Applies Continuous Improvement tools and methodology in all aspects of work, including modeling tools and philosophy with teams; Routinely identifying and driving internal and external efficiency and process improvement projects.
- Leads select department programs or processes and provides additional cross-team leadership support for the department.
- Works with QA in managing supplier expectations in following supplier quality and reliability standards
- Maintain supplier scorecard, and work with deficient suppliers to improve process
- 3-5+ years’ experience in a purchasing role
- Additional experience in food processing, packaging, material planning, inventory control, quality & food safety, and negotiation is highly preferred.
