Your Role

By joining Accenture Consulting, you will embark on a fast-paced career that will allow you to utilize your deep industry experience and specialized skills to design, sell and lead industry defining transformation programs. As an Industry Transformation Principal Director, you will:

  • Drive business development to originate and architect C-suite relevant industry transformational programs
  • Build and nurture enduring trusted relationships with senior client executives, partnering with them to create strategic solutions at the intersection of business, technology, and operations
  • Shape and lead high-value client engagements that drive functional or enterprise reinvention to solve the chemical industry’s most complex business challenges
  • Collaborate across Accenture’s ecosystem — including industry, technology, and functional teams — to bring the best of Accenture to every client conversation, and design integrated, cross-functional solutions that address clients’ most pressing priorities
  • Develop and mentor consulting teams, ensuring the next generation of leaders builds both client trust and consulting expertise
  • Work with Accenture leadership to set the strategic direction for our Chemicals practice, influencing practice growth, capability development, and market positioning
  • Build deep and recognized expertise in the chemicals industry—contributing provocative thought leadership that shapes the market conversation and strengthens our brand
  • Ability to travel as needed, up to 75-100%

Here’s What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or science.
  • Minimum of 15 years of management consulting or internal consulting experience, with the majority focused on the chemicals sector, including recognized depth as either a thought leader or subject matter expert in the industry.
  • Proven ability to originate, shape, and close multi-million-dollar consulting engagements, with a track record of achieving or exceeding annual sales targets.
  • Deep expertise in chemicals industry trends, challenges, and opportunities, with the ability to publish, speak, and create thought leadership that influences the market.
  • Demonstrated success in C-suite engagement—acting as a trusted advisor to senior executives and helping shape strategic direction at both the corporate and functional levels.
  • 2+ years of direct experience leading large-scale transformational programs involving process, people and technology change, overseeing cross-functional teams and delivering measurable business outcomes.
  • Specialized functional expertise in a core industry function, such as commercial, supply chain, manufacturing, or R&D/innovation.
  • Experience leading corporate/BU strategy, digital transformation, growth strategy, or cost optimization initiatives.
  • Strong technology acumen with understanding of how core digital platforms and advanced digital / AI solutions drive value.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with strong executive presence and the ability to influence at the board level.

Bonus Points If

  • You hold a Master’s degree in Business (MBA) or an advanced degree in Engineering or Science.
  • You bring direct operating experience in a chemicals company, ideally in a strategy, transformation, or innovation-focused leadership role.
  • You have established, trusted relationships with C-level executives in the industry and a network that drives business development opportunities.
  • You have experience contributing to or leading go-to-market strategies, intellectual capital development, or practice growth initiatives within a consulting environment.

Compensation at Accenture varies depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.

As required by local law, Accenture provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York or Washington as set forth below.
