The Manager of Performance and Organizational Development will design and implement training programs to enhance employees' knowledge and growth, driving the organization to its full potential. This role requires a passion for enhancing the employee experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with business leaders to strategize and develop Learning and Development plans for the organization.

Additionally, you will deliver best-in-class scalable talent lifecycle processes and programs in the areas of performance management, competency development, goal setting, career pathing, mentorship, talent calibration, career development and talent planning.

In this position you will serve as an advisor, coach and mentor for people leaders and employees across the organization.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • The Manager of Performance and Organizational Development will craft, deliver, and evaluate learning initiatives aimed at enhancing workforce capabilities
  • This role involves creating curriculum content for various staff audiences, using both synchronous and asynchronous learning methods
  • As a subject matter authority, the Manager will collaborate across departments and work with external vendors, where applicable, to support employee growth in core and functional competencies
  • Develop curriculum content, facilitator guides, job aids, and assessments
  • Partner with departments to assess training needs and identify skill gaps
  • Lead and run our mentorship program, including designing program structure, matching mentors with mentees, and providing ongoing support to foster professional growth and development. Serve as the subject matter expert on learning and organizational development, conducting research and partnering with business leaders to assess and address organizational needs.
  • Leverage business data, engagement/pulse surveys, direct employee feedback, and industry standard methodologies to shape the Pistons learning and development strategy, career management programs, leadership development initiatives, and employee learning experiences
  • Drive initiatives with strong and influential communication skills,mentorship, and conscientious leadership, while providing strategic guidance on organizational tactics & execution.

What We’re Looking For

  • 6+ years of experience in professional learning and development
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Paylocity, LMS and Teams
  • Strong organizational, communication, and adaptability skills
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to analyze data and metrics to evaluate training effectiveness and return on investment
  • Business planning and analysis, strategic planning, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are crucial
  • An effective communicator and collaborator who can synthesize insights from multiple stakeholders across business functions to deliver purpose-built insights, models and tools that provide easily interpretable and actionable results
  • Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science degree required; Master’s Degree or MBA preferred.
  • Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and coordination of resources.
  • Ability to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to workplace scenarios.
  • Ability to utilize professional and ethical judgement, while maintaining confidentiality on business matters within Pistons Sports and Entertainment.
