Cortica is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join its growing team! In this role, you will be a key member of the Finance team. This role presents an exciting opportunity in an innovative, high-growth company still in its early stages of development.

The base pay range for this opening is $25.09 to $31.37 hourly. According to your skill level, relevant experience, education level, and location, you will receive compensation that fits appropriately within the range.

What will you do?
- Process full-cycle payroll for assigned entities on a bi-weekly basis for an expanding workforce.
- Research and resolve payroll-related questions and issues; explain payroll policies and procedures and provide outstanding customer service.
- Verify and process employee expense reimbursements.
- Serves as a primary point of contact for internal and external payroll tax-related inquires and audits.
- Continuously drive improvements, automation, communication, and education to improve employee experience.
- Assist with the implementation of new payroll systems or updating existing systems to meet business needs.
- Upgrade process and procedures as company scales to integrate with the latest technology.
- You possess a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- You bring 3+ years of progressive payroll processing experience.
- You have experience with multi-state payroll and familiarity with new-state registration set-up and compliance.
- You have a solid working knowledge of UKG (implementation experience a plus!) and the aptitude to learn new systems.
- You can work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects.
- You demonstrate a high level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.
