Description
The patient observer will provide constant and direct observation of the patient with suicidal ideation.
Provide one on one constant and direct observation of patient with
suicidal ideation. Provide one on one direct observation at all times
when the patient leaves the unit for diagnostic studies. Secure patient
area for objects/equipment that may harm the patient. Obtain vital
signs (blood pressure, pulse, respirations, oximetry) with
documentation in MAR. Support activities of daily living (ADL) under RN
supervision.
Communicates with patient and family by introducing self, informing
patient/family of role of patient observer. Communicates with nursing
staff regarding report to relief staff, notification of inappropriate
patient/visitor behavior to the nurse. Maintains patient confidentiality.
Demonstrates sensitivity to patient needs.
Minimum Education
Required: High School Diploma
Preferred: High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education
Specify Degree(s): Completion of a Nursing Assistant program, Curre
Specify Degree(s): Completion of a Nursing Assistant Program; EMT Program; OR Current enrollment in nursing school or medical school Residency: CNA, EMT, Nursing Student or Medical Student
Minimum Experience
Preferred: 1-2 years of previous job-related experience
Required: CPR/BLS (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) AHA – BLS Version
Compensation
Salary Range: $15.30 - $18.51 per hour
Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
