This position is full time, Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with rotating weekly on-call responsibilities. This includes flexibility to work weekends and/or overnight shifts based on business needs.
We offer 1 week of on-the-job training. The hours of training will be on the morning shift from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for emergency department registration staff
- Have a working knowledge of computer applications
- Demonstrate leadership and analytical thinking capability
- Requires working knowledge of insurance including commercial contracts, managed care, and government programs including federal, state, and local agencies
- Have knowledge of basic medical terminology
- Organizes workflow to ensure accurate and timely team performance
- Supervises the work schedule, always ensuring adequate and appropriate coverage for all positions
- Selects and delegates training and orientation of new staff
- Assigns staff responsibilities and evaluates performance
- Counsels employees on areas of improvement of job duties and performance
- Works with staff to develop personal development plans, identify areas for improvement, and improve performance
- Performs interviews, performance appraisals, provides coaching and feedback to staff adhering to the policies and procedures of the admitting department as well as Dignity Health policies
- Provides input for, and ensures staff compliance with, established organizational policies, objectives, safety, environmental and infection control standards
- Possesses knowledge and ability to leverage technology, optimize the utilization of internal resources and improve the quality of work and information flows
- Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings as assigned
- Attends, and sometimes leads departmental meetings and contributes with suggestions, ideas, and methods to improve quality of department / hospital operations
- Daily rounding and weekly huddles with the registration staff
- Reviews operational reports, identifies opportunities and problems and makes recommendations for improving customer service, patient throughput and process flow
- Generates enthusiasm and commitment among employees
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED
- Must be 18 years of age OR older
- 2+ years of experience working in a hospital patient registration department, physician office, or call center in a healthcare setting
- 1 + years of supervisor/management or team/group lead experience in healthcare
- Experience verifying patient insurance
- Working knowledge of medical benefits & medical terminology
- Ability to complete one week of training on the morning shift, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Ability to work full-time onsite at Mercy Hospital Folsom, 1650 Creekside Dr. Folsom, CA 95630
- Ability to work from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with rotating weekly on-call responsibilities. This includes flexibility to work weekends and/or overnight shifts based on business needs
- 2+ years of in ER Registration
- Bilingual fluency in English and any other language
- Understanding and sharing the feelings of others to build trust and rapport
- Fully concentrating, understanding, and responding thoughtfully to others
- Expressing ideas clearly and respectfully, both verbally and non-verbally
- Adjusting your approach based on the situation and the people involved
- Remaining calm and composed, especially when others are stressed or upset
