Established in 1973, La Casa/Latino Cultural Center serves as an important link and advocate between the university and the Latine community, working closely with other campus units, the Bloomington community, and state and national groups. Building on a strong campus community, La Casa provides programming, support, and opportunities to foster a sense of belonging and pride for Latine students, while assisting in their academic, leadership, professional, and social development.

- Support the daily operations and programming of the center.
- Open and staff the center during designated hours.
- Serve as a point of contact for staff inquiries and general office needs.
- Coordinate maintenance of office equipment and supplies.
- Assist with purchasing and travel arrangements for non-employee guests.
- Help manage the center's social media accounts, newsletter, and website updates.
- Maintain and update BeINvolved and the center's email communications.
- Assist with planning, logistics, and facilitation of center programs, events, and outreach activities.
- Provide on-site support during events and services.
- Support the collection, tracking, and reporting of program and engagement data.
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED).
- Some college coursework in communications, public affairs, education, nonprofit management, or relevant field.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- 1 year of experience in an administrative, customer service, or office support role (can include volunteer or student organization experience).
- Experience supporting events, programs, or outreach initiatives.
- Experience working in a university, nonprofit, or cultural/community center setting.
Required
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
- Familiarity with social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Experience with event planning or program coordination.
- Familiarity with university systems such as BeINvolved or similar platforms.
- Comfort with updating websites or using content management systems.
- Passion for community engagement and administrative excellence.
- Desire to work in a dynamic, culturally rich environment.
- Familiarity with managing social media accounts or digital communications.
- Experience with data entry, tracking, or reporting.
