The Paralegal assists leaders on the Legal/Compliance team by performing a variety of legal support duties, including conducting legal research, assisting with filing suspicious filing reports, responding to inquiries from state regulators or law enforcement agencies, and providing support for a team of attorneys
This position requires 100% on-site attendance at our headquarters in Pontiac, MI.

What You Will Be Doing
- Reviewing, monitoring and responding to regulatory or law enforcement requests
- Assisting with maintaining our Bank Secrecy Act program
- Assisting with filing suspicious activity reports
- Researching and analyzing law sources such as statutes, regulations, judicial decisions, and legal articles
- Preparing written correspondence with outside counsel and other third-parties
- Ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
- Editing legal documents for accuracy
- Assisting with Legal/Compliance trainings
- Assisting with issues related to MERS, servicing, settlement agent oversight, title claims and other title related issues
- Performing clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, providing information to callers, and composing and typing routine correspondence
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or Paralegal certificate and a minimum of one year of previous experience in a legal support environment, either in a corporate or law firm setting.
- Have experience performing legal research.
- Have a commitment to continuous business improvement.
- Be able to collaborate with numerous teams and team members to mitigate risk and ensure legal matters are resolved timely.
- Have effective planning, organizational and project management skills.
- Be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously effectively.
- Have a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Have excellent written and communication skills with an attention to correct grammar and business writing skills.
- Have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Have critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills.
- Be self-motivated and able to work well in a team based environment.
