We’re hiring a detail-oriented and highly organized Family Law Paralegal to support our legal team in all aspects of case preparation, and to assist our attorneys with drafting, filing motions, interacting closely with clients, and preparing for hearings. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of legal procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and draft family law documents, including petitions, responses, discovery requests/responses, declarations, financial disclosures, and settlement agreements.
  • Assist attorneys in all phases of the litigation process, including discovery, pre-trial preparation, trial support, and post-trial procedures.
  • File legal documents with family courts (e-filing and physical filing).
  • Maintain case files and calendars, ensuring deadlines are tracked and met.
  • Ensure all documents are properly sorted and easy to locate, and perform other administrative duties as needed.
  • Schedule court hearings, mediations, and appointments.
  • Draft correspondence to opposing counsel, courts, and clients.
  • Perform legal research as needed for case development.
  • Manage calendars, deadlines, and appointments related to legal cases.
  • Support attorneys with administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 + years of experience as a paralegal in family law.
  • Associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Familiarity with local, state, legal terminology, court rules, and federal family law court procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management software (e.g., Rocketmatter, Family Law Software, Excel).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask, manage a high-volume caseload, and work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High emotional intelligence and empathy when dealing with sensitive client matters to fit our work culture.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) required.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with legal billing or time tracking.
  • Notary Public (optional but beneficial).
