Group/Division

The Office of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) plays a critical role in developing advanced long-range technology in collaboration with product divisions and strategic marketing, working on future technology like light sources, lasers, and sensors. We are engaged in the research and development process, and once the technology is mature, we partner with product engineering groups who then build products based on the technology we’ve developed. The Office of the CTO also provides technical input into KLA’s strategic planning process, program reviews and Product Life Cycle (PLC) phases. We provide our broad technology expertise and cross-division experience to ensure we leverage the collective knowledge within our company.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

We are looking for an Optics Research Scientist to join the CTO team in Milpitas!

Responsibilities

  • Advancing CTO’s optics R&D capabilities in terms of high precision optics design and manufacturing know-how
  • Translating top-level system requirements into optical design and manufacturing specifications
  • Performing tolerance analysis, proposing compensation schemes and addressing metrology challenges
  • Proposing design options by evaluating trade-offs such as performance vs manufacturability
  • Collaborating with vendors to resolve manufacturing issues
  • Designing and conducting experiments to validate the performance


Qualifications

  • Solid background in optics theory and system design
  • In depth knowledge of optics fabrication and metrology
  • Expertise with Zemax/CodeV/OSLO/TracePro or similar
  • Experience with Matlab/Python or similar
  • Good collaborator with strong interpersonal skills


Preferred

  • Design experience with high precision optics
  • Design experience with optomechanical modules
  • Experience with Labview or similar
  • Experience with Lumerical/Comsol or similar


Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate (Academic) in Optics or Physics

Base Pay Range: $130,400.00 - $221,700.00 Annually

Primary Location: USA-CA-Milpitas-KLA
