SUMMARY:

The Network Security Analyst works with the Network Security Team Supervisor to design, plan, and implement security measures to protect data, networks, and computer systems. The Security Analyst would be integral in preventing data and service interruptions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following duties cover what are generally believed to be the principal and essential functions of the job. Specific circumstances may allow or require some people assigned to the job to perform a somewhat different combination of duties.

  • Analyzes traffic to identify anomalies.
  • Assists in analyzing network security procedures including firewall software, hardware, server, and topology related operations, etc.
  • Assists in configuration of firewall, router, and component across the security network.
  • Conducts security assessments, product integration, and penetration testing.
  • Audits security networking to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor networks for breaches.
  • Takes action if malicious activity is detected to contain the activity and minimize damage.
  • Prepare reports and take note of security breaches and the extent of the damage caused by these breaches.
  • Install various security measures, like data encryption.
  • Conduct frequent testing of simulated cyber attacks to look for vulnerabilities in computer systems.
  • Stay up to date on recent intelligence, emerging threats, and vulnerabilities in IT security.
  • Testing network disaster recovery plans.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • BS in computer related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Working knowledge of network security
  • Security or network certification is a plus

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of the security field’s concepts and principles.
  • Knowledge of a variety of current and emerging technologies.
  • Knowledge of information security solutions, including network security monitoring and vulnerability management.
  • Understanding of current threats and trends in Network Security.
  • Ability to problem-solve and think analytically.
  • Exceptional planning and project management skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to break down complicated ideas to a non-technical audience.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in written or diagram form. Reasoning; dealing with problems involving a few variables in standard situations.
