Position Summary

The Network Infrastructure Specialist is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing network cabling, LCDs, computer workstations, and other IT equipment within a healthcare environment. The incumbent works with the Lead Network Administrator and Lead LAN Technician to ensure that cabling infrastructure and equipment installations support the facility’s communication, network, and productivity needs.The ideal candidate will have experience with cabling installations, maintenance, equipment repairs, and a solid understanding of networking concepts and the following:

  • Install, maintain, and repair network cabling within healthcare facilities.
  • Install and configure LCDS, computer workstations, workstation wall mounts, and other IT-related equipment within healthcare facilities.
  • Test and troubleshoot network cabling and equipment-related issues, such as damaged or disconnected cables, or malfunctioning equipment.
  • Work with the Lead Network Administrator to develop cabling and equipment installation plans that support the facility’s network and communication needs.
  • Collaborate with the Information Technology Support Team to ensure that cabling and all equipment installations are integrated and functional within the enterprise’s network.
  • Maintain accurate records of cabling and equipment installations, repairs, and upgrades.
  • Comply with all healthcare and IT security policies and regulations.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • The ideal candidate will hold an active certification such as CompTIA’s Network+ or Cisco’s CCNA. However, we will also consider candidates committed to obtaining one of these certifications within six (6) months of the hire date.
  • We seek candidates with one or more years of experience in an Information Technology-related field. However, we are also open to hiring individuals with less experience who show potential for growth and a willingness to learn.
  • Understanding of networking concepts and protocols, such as TCP/IP, DHCP, and DNS.
  • Familiarity with cabling tools and equipment, such as cable testers, crimpers, and cable trays.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.

WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION

Business setting, indoors with possibility of irregular hours and/or call back, moderate to heavy stress on a continued basis. Required to work flexible schedule in order to accommodate on-call and other responsibilities including accessing systems from out of campus to analyze/resolve system problems/halts. Required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays on occasions during conversions of software/operating systems, or installation of enhancements/hardware, or meeting deadlines on programming needs. Requires full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity, eye and hand coordination. Requires corrected vision to acceptable range. Considerable sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and lifting (in excess of 50 pounds). Extreme mental effort required with ability to assess and make decisions in abbreviated time frames.
