About our Company - Located in Newport News, Virginia, Canon Virginia, Inc. serves as Canon’s only manufacturing, engineering, recycling and technical support center in the Americas region. CVI produces new products using advanced manufacturing methodologies while also serving as a factory service center providing expert customer service in the repair and refurbishment of Canon products. We are seeking candidates for the position of Mold Designer III!
Your Impact
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge of various injection mold types and their structures; manages high complexity projects (i.e. conventional slides/lifters, hot runner system, high cavitation molds, stack molds, high tolerance products, multi shot, etc.).
- Manages complex tool packages (i.e. multi tool package with multiple types of auxiliary tooling); effectively communicates with other groups involved in the process; ensures tool design is alignment with production requirements.
- Communicates with internal and external customers and optimally coordinates all information necessary to complete mold design.
- Makes recommendations for improvements to tooling concepts; effectively communicates improvements, benefits of improvements and/or changes needed to the customer.
- May check mold designs of other Designers for accuracy and adherence to design standards.
- Troubleshoots and modifies elements to resolves design issues.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Design or Mechanical Engineering and 5-8 years mold design experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience and 4 years as an experienced Tool Maker plus 7 years mold design experience.
- Advance knowledge of Mold Flow software; experience running and crafting mold flow reports a plus.
- Proficient with Computer Aided Machining (CAM) programming for toolpath and Autodesk PowerMill a plus.
- Proficient with CAD solid modeling system; experience with NX CAD a plus.
