The Role You’ll Contribute

The Office Assistant/Patient Biller represents the practice in the coordination of all patient/physician encounters. This position is responsible for making certain that the physician’s time is appropriately utilized and patient’s needs are met. This position is also responsible for performing receptionist/clerical duties. These duties are to be performed with a minimum of supervision for patients of adult and geriatric ages.

  • Is primarily responsible for answering the telephone following established procedures.
  • Answers pleasantly using appropriate greeting
  • Takes detailed appropriate messages
  • Delivers messages in a timely manner to appropriate person. Provides the patient chart to the physician for reference.
  • Transfers call to appropriate staff members. Provides the patient chart to the physician or nurse for reference during telephone calls with patients and/or referring physicians.
  • Assists callers as much as possible with questions, requests
  • Schedules, cancels, reschedules, etc. appointment as requested
  • Places telephones on and off service as needed
  • Makes appointments from telephone requests or for exiting patients.
  • Notifies physicians, nurses, managers, social worker and financials counselor of new patient appointments.

Minimum Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year experience in a medical setting with coding, charge entry and payment collection
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
