Job Title: Tanker Driver

Job Purpose

The Fuel Tanker Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transport of fuel products to designated locations. This role requires strict adherence to safety standards and regulations, excellent driving skills, and the ability to manage time effectively.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

Driving and Transportation:

  • Safely operate fuel tankers to transport fuel products to various locations.
  • Plan and follow the most efficient routes for timely deliveries.
  • Ensure all loads are properly secured and comply with transportation laws.
  • Safety Compliance:
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations related to the transportation of hazardous materials.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, checking for safety and maintenance issues.
  • Report any vehicle defects, accidents, or violations to the supervisor promptly.

Loading And Unloading

  • Load and unload fuel products at designated sites using appropriate equipment and procedures.
  • Monitor fuel levels and ensure accurate delivery according to customer requirements.
  • Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, fuel deliveries, and other required documentation.
  • Complete delivery tickets, receipts, and other necessary paperwork.

Customer Service

  • Provide professional and courteous service to customers.
  • Address any customer concerns or questions regarding fuel deliveries.
  • Maintenance:
  • Perform regular maintenance and minor repairs on the tanker as needed.
  • Keep the tanker clean and in good working condition.
  • Emergency Response:
  • Act appropriately in case of an emergency, such as spills or accidents.
  • Follow the company's emergency procedures and report incidents promptly.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience:
  • Proven experience as a tanker driver or similar role.
  • Experience with transporting hazardous materials is preferred.
  • Licenses and Certifications:
  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements for tankers and hazardous materials (Hazmat).
  • Clean driving record.

Skills

  • Excellent driving skills and knowledge of road safety regulations.
  • Ability to operate and navigate a fuel tanker safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects.

Working Conditions

  • Environment: Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and hazardous materials.
  • Schedule: May include long hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physical Demands: Prolonged periods of driving, lifting, and handling heavy fuel hoses.
