Who We’re Looking For

Toyota’s Materials Engineering Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated engineer to work in the Metals, Catalyst, Lubricants & Battery Pack Material group.

The primary responsibility of this role is the development and localization of Metals, Catalyst, Lubricants & Battery Pack Material.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, the person in this role will support the Materials Engineering Department’s objective of implementing appealing products that meet customer and company needs.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the development, evaluation, and implementation of metallic materials. which include new development and localization.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with suppliers to meet Toyota Specifications.
  • Support Design groups with Lab Analysis and Research.
  • Coordinate testing with evaluation groups for investigation studies.
  • Support with liaison activities for Fluids / Lubricants if required.
  • Engage with Manufacturing Plants to support Lubricant related concerns.
  • Develop and maintain Open Issues summary along with comprehensive specifications to facilitate / guide suppliers and other divisions to develop new metal grades.
  • Able to produce clear and concise engineering documents such as technical reports, evaluation schedules and presentations.
  • Continuously study industry trends and technology.
  • Embrace and innovate future grades of Alloys to align and stay competitive in the market.
  • Able to learn and understand testing equipment utilized in Metals / Fluids.
  • Operate equipment for supporting lab analysis such as Microscopes, Microstructure, chemical composition, mechanical testing, etc.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or Chemistry.
  • With 1 to 5 years of experience in materials-related engineering function.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of material development and evaluation requirements.
  • Ability to collaborate and adapt effectively with stakeholders to achieve company objectives.
  • Experience with project management, maintaining schedules and reporting in a timely manner.
  • Able to visit Suppliers / Manufacturing plants to support production process.
  • Go-N-See production Process to grasp quality and part performances.
  • Willing to travel both domestically and international up to 10%.
  • Willing to work overtime if needed up to 10%.

Added bonus if you have

  • Experience working with design/manufacturing/evaluation of automotive materials (i.e., Metals, Catalyst, Lubricants & Battery Pack Material).
  • Background or experience with PowerBI or Software tools such as Python.
  • Experience with machine learning concepts (including supervised learning and featuring engineering).
  • Completed Toyota Business Practice through Panel (Toyota-internal) or equivalent Problem-solving tool.
