POSITION PURPOSE

As a functional leader in the market, the Market President manages the community bank branch(es) for a defined area or region and is responsible for directing business development, customer satisfaction, community leadership, promoting corporate culture, and achieving strategic goals and objectives. The position is responsible for developing and instituting strategies for market position growth and profitability targets.

Education And Work Experience

  • Master’s degree or equivalent; or ten to fifteen years of related financial experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experienced leader and financial executive with 10-15 years of executive-level financial and/or banking experience to include;
    • Proven leadership experience. Minimum 5 years of prior management experience.
    • Experience with budgets and achieving financial results.
    • Extensive knowledge of credit principles and practices, lending laws and regulations.
    • 7-10 years of prior commercial and retail lending experience.
    • Extensive knowledge of retail banking products and services.
    • Strong financial and regulatory expertise in the banking industry.

  • General PC and Peripherals, proficiency in Excel preferred.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

  • Under the general direction of the business banking leader, develop and implement overall market financial growth and profitability targets while maintaining safety and soundness.
  • Provide leadership and participates in appropriate community/civic activities to enhance the Bank's presence, image, and reputation in the community. Encourages involvement of officers in key influential community organizations.
  • Lead by example and communicate with a focus on mission and purpose consistent with the Bank’s core values and vision. Develops and maintains a high level of employee engagement and morale.
  • Create a culture of sales and service through strong sales skills and assisting team members by personally leading the sales process, coaching, mentoring, motivation, and actively engaging in the call process for the development of business and growing the bank while adhering to company sales and marketing processes. Direct and participate in the development of centers of influence for direct and referral sales.
  • Work closely with the District Branch Manager in retail branch management.
  • Adopt, support, and reinforce the expected behaviors and practices related to the loan process, credit quality, and the financial performance of the market. Ensure bank process and work execution meet the highest ethical and legal standards.
  • Evaluate and adjust client service model as needed to ensure excellent client satisfaction and alignment.
  • Expand and enhance knowledge on existing products to increase our audience, deepen client engagement and create new sources of revenue.
  • Recommend and implement and/or assist with various projects and other duties related to the development and implementation of effective strategic plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop and execute strategic growth plans and work cross functionally with banking channels and product partners to ensure goals and objective are consistently met.
  • Monitor market performance and provides input on pricing, target markets, and product mix.
  • Work closely with the Business Banking Leader to develop a high-quality and profitable commercial loan portfolio and ensures market sales goals and objectives are achieved.
  • Work closely with the marketing officer to define and lead the centralized marketing efforts of the Bank. This includes building an appropriate plan to meet market initiatives and within budget parameters, to include localized direct mail, local sponsorship of events, representation in community organizations, etc.
  • Ensure effective day-to-day operation of the market including compliance with regulations, effective service, and profitable operations within budgetary guidelines.
  • Implement and direct bank policies and procedures in accordance with applicable state, federal, and local laws, and regulations.
  • Coach, develop and motivate staff to achieve the organization’s business plan. Set performance standards, give clear direction, delegate, and schedule work. Monitor performance, give ongoing performance feedback and conduct effective annual performance appraisals. Focus on the development of key team members by assisting them to determine their needs for continued career growth and conducting effective coaching and performance feedback sessions on a regular basis.
  • In conjunction with the Business Banking Leader and human resources department, ensure adequate staffing levels and that staff members are provided appropriate training, development, motivation, and evaluation. Recommend compensation adjustments to staff consistent with the Bank’s compensation plan.
  • In conjunction with the information technology department, ensures implementation of IT and data management strategies and tools for use in product development, compliance, risk management, operating efficiencies, effective client relationships and marketing.
  • Provide input and assists in the preparation of, and adherence to, annual budgets for activities conducted in the defined market area.
