Alan B. Miller Medical Center opening in Spring 2026!

A neighborhood hospital with medical center excellence! The new state-of-the-art hospital will join UHS’ growing regional network of healthcare operations which includes Wellington Regional Medical Center, the ER at Westlake (an extension of Wellington Regional Medical Center), Wellington Physicians Urgent Care and other healthcare services and access points. The Alan B. Miller Medical Center will feature 150 private patient rooms, a medical office building and a helistop. Upon completion of the initial phase of the project, the hospital campus will include 365,000 square feet of hospital and medical office space. The new Medical Center will offer comprehensive medical services including Emergency Care, Orthopedics and Surgical Services, Labor and Delivery, Neonatal Intensive Care, Oncology, Cardiovascular and Neurosurgical services. In addition, the campus will be home to medical office buildings that will provide outpatient services.

Alan B Miller Medical Center and Wellington Regional Medical Center are both acute care hospitals located in Palm Beach County, owned by a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc., a highly respected healthcare management organization.

Job Requirements

The Market Director, Laboratory Services is a strategic and operational leader responsible for overseeing clinical laboratory operations across multiple hospital sites. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective, and compliant laboratory services that support patient care, clinical excellence, and organizational goals. The Director will lead a team of laboratory managers, supervisors, and technical staff, fostering a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement. Responsible for all testing and testing-related diagnostic laboratory services for the Palm Beach Market including Wellington Regional Medical Center, Alan B. Miller Medical Center, FEDs, Urgent Care Centers, and other services. Develops strategic direction for laboratory services; oversight of the quality, service levels, cost and operational integrity of laboratory services.

Hires and trains departmental supervisors and managers.

Education Requirements

  • An advanced degree in health care or business administration from an accredited educational institution (MHA, MBA, MD) is required.

Experience

  • Minimum ten years of progressively responsible laboratory management experience is required.
  • 10+ years of multi-facility laboratory management experience.
  • Experience working with medical staff, administration, and nursing departments.
  • Managed care, utilization and standing order experience preferred.

Skills

  • Knowledge of information systems application for laboratory management.
  • General knowledge and overview of Laboratory Management and how it corresponds to daily hospital operation.
  • Service oriented, strategic leader with demonstrated quantitative, technical, and financial expertise.
  • Strong leadership, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Projects a positive attitude, demonstrated collaborative competencies, and a strong work ethic.
  • Understands the impact of market forces on hospital objectives and direction.
  • Effective negotiating skills.
  • Ability to foster an environment of teamwork, build strong working relationships, and mentor direct reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency with knowledge of Microsoft Office and supply chain systems.

Certification/Licensure

  • Medical Technologist with ASCP or comparable certification required.

Travel Requirements

Travel within the Palm Beach Market.

Accountable for coordinating the activities and providing clinical and administrative leadership and expertise in one or more defined areas of the medical center. Responsible for the fiscal, operational and personnel management of the Laboratory Service departments. Develops budgets and business plans for the respective areas. Contributes to the vision, mission, strategic plan of the organization, and is accountable for the standards of care and practice in the areas where Laboratory Personnel practice. In addition, the Director possesses knowledge of Joint Commission, AOA, Florida Department of Health guidelines, CAP, rules and regulations of WRMC, and has a thorough understanding of sound management principles.
