Manager, Talent Acquisition

VetnCare

Date: 3 weeks ago
City: Oakland, CA
Contract type: Intern
Who We Are

VetnCare was founded in 2012 with a simple yet powerful vision: to create a community of veterinary hospitals that deliver next-level care, next-door. What started as a passion for helping pets has grown into a thriving community of 13 pet hospitals across Northern California.

We believe that exceptional pet care starts with exceptional people. That’s why we invest in our teams, providing the professional mentorship, comprehensive training, and innovative resources they need to grow and thrive. Each hospital is led by a dedicated Hospital Manager and Clinical Director, ensuring elevated, compassionate care at each location. With an average of two full-time veterinarians per hospital, our teams focus on building lasting relationships with pets and pet parents.

Our centralized support team—including operations, HR, finance, IT, and marketing—ensures that our hospitals run smoothly, allowing our clinical teams to focus on what they do best: provide exceptional veterinary care.

When you join VetnCare—whether as a team member or a pet parent—you become part of a community that’s redefining what it means to be a local veterinary hospital. Every day, we come together with a shared purpose: to elevate veterinary care for pets and the people who care for them.

About The Role

We’re looking for a hands-on Manager of Recruiting to lead and execute talent acquisition across VetnCare. This is a player/coach style role—about 60% hands-on recruiting (split between para-professional roles like RVTs, VAs, and CSRs, and DVM roles) and 40% strategic oversight of our recruiting function and team.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in both operational execution and strategic leadership. You’ll roll up your sleeves to source and hire great talent, while mentoring recruiters and partnering cross-functionally to scale hiring across our hospitals.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead full-cycle recruiting for DVM and para-professional roles across our hospital network
  • Oversee and support the recruitment function and team, ensuring alignment with business goals
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with DVM schools, internship coordinators, and student groups to strengthen our long-term talent pipeline
  • Represent VetnCare at career fairs, networking events, and veterinary school engagements
  • Partner with hospital leaders and the People Team to assess workforce needs and forecast hiring plans
  • Use creative sourcing strategies, proactive outreach, and referral pipelines to attract high-quality candidates
  • Optimize our recruiting processes, ensuring speed, quality, and consistency across all touchpoints
  • Coach, mentor, and support a small team of recruiters focused on clinical hiring
  • Implement and leverage modern recruiting tools, ATS platforms, and AI sourcing technologies
  • Collaborate on employer branding efforts and local recruitment marketing campaigns
  • Track key recruiting metrics, deliver insights, and iterate strategies based on performance.
  • Champion inclusive hiring practices and help us build diverse, values-aligned teams

About You

You’re a builder, a connector, and a doer. You know how to fill tough roles, partner with hiring managers, and lead teams—without losing your passion for recruiting yourself.

You’ll Thrive In This Role If You Have

  • 6+ years of recruiting experience, including 1–2 years in a leadership or team lead capacity
  • Proven ability to hire for high-volume or hard-to-fill roles, preferably in veterinary, healthcare, or multi-site industries
  • Hands-on experience filling non-exempt/frontline or para-professional roles
  • Strong sourcing chops and comfort using ATS platforms, sourcing tools, and AI solutions
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills—you’re a trusted partner to stakeholders
  • A data-informed mindset and ability to use recruiting metrics to drive decisions
  • Experience with employer branding and candidate experience strategy is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

Why join VetnCare

  • Competitive salary range: $120,000 - $140,000 based on experience and location
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance with generous employer contributions
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Paid Time Off and holidays
  • Continuing Education allowance
  • Health and Dependent Care FSA/HSA options
  • Pet care benefits and discounts
  • Growth opportunities across a values-driven organization
